When I fitted a Bigsby to my Casino, I also added a set of roller bridge saddles.

It was done by the previous owner so I don't know what the thinking was but I also suspect it was to reduce the angle. A roller bridge would work much better but I've never bothered to change it as I don't really use the Bigsby.

You know what I'd do if it were mine? Convert the 6-string to a single overall tone control, and replace the other tone control with the volume from the 12.

Apart from that little problem, it looks a really lovely instrument.
Absolutley that's exactly what I am going to do, well get my guitar techy chap to do, move the 12 string volume out of the way down to the bottom tone knob....
Its a Paoletti ..nicely made from old wine casks or something...Im quite impressed with it

Not as high spec as many on here but the red one is 44yrs old and was a recent gift from my old mentor ,he also gave me my first electric guitar which the red one was obtained by him to replace .
The only work it's had is new frets .
It is a lovely old thing and plays really well ,taking me back to my teenage years .

A work in progress.

Guitarbuild body, NW Guitars custom neck. Fender Noiseless Vintage pickups plus a Fishman Powerbridge piezo.

Could be a buckle allergy depending on what they're wound with.

Yeah, I typed nickel, iphone autocorrected. A burn sounds more likely, I get nickel allergy if I spend too long with a guitar with nickel plated parts, but the strings don't seem to be a problem as my finger ends are rather calloused.

It's probably that the strings the guitar came with have been on there that long they're pulling half your finger off. Just change the strings for something you already know.

Had the same with an Epi LP I bought, they were cheap ass strings as well as old

Does anyone own a PRS SE Custom 24?

I played one in a guitar shop a few months back and I can't stop thinking about it. The tone and sustain were amazing compared to the other guitars I have played (Fender, Ibanez and some cheaper stuff)

Any issues with these? I once read that the tuners and tremelo were a bit shoddy on the SE mmodels

A mate of mine has an SE 7 string. It sounds good enough. It's about what you'd expect for a £600 guitar. I don't believe it's a match for an equivalent Fender or Ibanez at the same price point. That sort of money will land a really good Mexican Stratocaster or a very, very good Iron Label Ibanez. But if you like the design, the feel and the sound of the PRS then get one. They are very different to both Fender and Ibanez' typical product.

I've got one, it is a floyd though. It's a good guitar for the money. Can't really comment on tuning stability in comparison to a non-floyd model. Pickups are plenty versatile.

If you want one, get one, you won't regret it. Mine and my japanese strat are the two guitars that don't go back in the stand. The 2016 guitars appear to be a bit cheaper at the moment too as the 2017s have been released.

I remember the tone of the PRS being so versatile and wide ranging as I cycled through neck/bridge humbuckers then pulling the coil tap to get the more strat like tones.

I'm keeping my Ibanez RG Prestige for fast/metal stuff but it doesn't sound or feel right when I want to play a bit of blues.

A Strat should be the answer, especially as a huge Hendrix fan and many of my other heros being Strat guys. However, I had a "high end" Strat (USA Strat Plus with Lace Sensors) for many years which I just never got on with. Each to their own, but I'm not a fan of the Gibson tones and none of my heros play Gibsons, so I haven't even explored that route.

The PRS just seemed to feel and sound so different, but I think I may have built it up in my mind somewhat.

I bought a PRS SE Custom 24 about a year ago and absolutely love it. If I had to sell all my other guitars (hopefully not as I've got some nice ones) and keep just one, this would be it. It's like having a Gibson and Fender al rolled into one - and what I love about it, is when you pull the tone control for a coil split, it really does make a difference to the sound. It does this better than any other guitar I've ever played with a coil split.

Very much a bittersweet background to that guitar, br d, and I imagine somewhat emotional to write.

Indeed. I had intended that little background story to come across more lighthearted than that but once the memories are invoked it is difficult to mask the sadness.

A thread made for showing off our axes is probably not the place for such ramblings but I feel the guitar and it's story are inseparable.
i've been on ph a long time, but never met more than a few local members in person. i've read all your euro car/guitar trip threads without making comment and am familiar with DMN and his bittersweet history of these past years.

i am not usually moved to write such things, but i think its lovely that there are still genuine people on here. those who are moved my personal connection and emotion. its such a heartening counterpoint to the bickering and posturing and doom-mongering.

here's to people, memories, good times and good music. enjoy your guitar and its the history it breathes through you as you play it. i am sure there will be a resonance to each note that can be heard and felt in this life and the next.

It's arrived! Firstly, a real case was a nice surprise.

It's a Chapman ML1N Norseman in Midgardsormen Raw.

First thoughts.... it's nearly as heavy as my Universe 7 string. There was a small amount of sawdust in the packaging, but everything else was lovely. Just need to finish my day and 'reward' myself.
I tried one of these and damn they are heavy. Much more than a Les Paul. I went for the CAP10 in black instead as the floyd and weight put me off.

I also tried the ghost fret. Much wanting.

Chapman make a very good product for the price point I am very happy with mine!

Which comes with the added advantage that however you play it you're bound to sound better than he does.

Haha very true.

I had an original ML1 for the purpose of a review a few years ago.

Great guitar for the money and personally where I thought the strength of the Chapman Brand lay.

I'm not really a fan of their newer guitars, despite the sort of discount Suhr/Anderson vibe some of them have.

I was very happy when Andertons started making videos with Pete and Mick. I always liked Lee's playing and tried to tune out Chappers widdling. Maybe its an age thing!
