Lets look at our guitars thread

Thats why my budget is so open because im more interested in getting a strat that makes me want to play it than one that costs up to x amount.
As for getting a cij strat, like i said i have one that i can use whenever, my dad and i swop guitars often, so it would feel like a needless purchase but if i could get a different type of strat which still suits then i would have my own and we could still swop.

I've had my Strat (an early made in Japan Squire '57 reissue) for 34 years and it feels so natural in my hands. However, if I'm trying out an amp/pedal in a shop and I use a shop Strat it always surprises me how different they feel.
I've been aware of this for a long time, but with the power of the internet I've learnt that there are different neck shapes and fingerboard radius to chose from, so I've retrospectively worked out what the specs are for my 1982 Strat, so I knew what to look for when I wanted a Telecaster (as I found some I like and others that felt odd).
If you like the feel of a particular Strat, but prefer some other finish (or perhaps a Rosewood fingerboard instead of a Maple one), try to find out some of the specs, then it'll make it easier when looking for 'the one'.
...either that or try every Strat in the shop I suppose; you'll find on in the end I'm sure.
Mine is just away having the frets dressed and possibly a partial re-fret depending on how they polish up. Cant wait to get it back.

7.25" radius? (I should think if it's faithful to the original 57 Strat). I've got a set of radius gauges which are very handy for checking unknown fretboards.I've been aware of this for a long time, but with the power of the internet I've learnt that there are different neck shapes and fingerboard radius to chose from, so I've retrospectively worked out what the specs are for my 1982 Strat, so I knew what to look for when I wanted a Telecaster (as I found some I like and others that felt odd).
Yes it certainly is. Not that I had any idea when I bought it in 1982, as I just wanted a 'real' Fender Strat (though by the time it arrived in the shop Fender had changed the headstock design to show 'Squier' with 'Fender' in small letters underneath). I tried the various versions out in the shop and the '57 version seemed to suit me (and I'm a Buddy Holly fan too, so to me it looked just right).
Should be plenty to try as will be going to PMT Nottingham and they have a wall dedicated to Fenders with plenty of Strats. Plan is to go in get one of each with price tags removed and see which one is favourite then how that compares to the Jap Strat. If its at least as good i will buy, if not will have to start seriously thinking about the Suhr.
Should be a good day!

Aye, it's lovely!
Some snaps of my Cort Rithimic Jeff Berlin bass in front of my Markbass Jeff Berlin combo. Picked both items up between March and April. That Cort is just out of this world. I've had some top end boutique wonders in the past from loads of builders: Alembic, Status, Kubicki, Zon, Warwick, Spector, ACG etc. As soon as I started playing the Rithimic I knew it was a real find. It's easily the best four string I've ever played.

What a contrast of wood, its like a really high quality stainless steel kitchen with a solid wood kitchen table. No way it should work but quality alwayshines through.
The orange-red wood is padauk. The bottom half is spalted maple. I think the accent stripe that separates the top from the alder body is walnut (as the five string Rithimic has a full walnut top rather than this 'mountain range' effect on the four string). So my Chapman Norseman turned out to have some finishing issues. Been trying to get a response out of Chapman and a certain Guildford based distributor for months.
They have finally said they will fix it for a price as it is cosmetic (from new). I have told them to sling their hook. A pity, as my next few guitars were going to come from there, including a stunning PRS custom I had seen...
What a pity. It's off to a local luthier on Monday, hopefully for a cheap easy fix.

I wouldn't settle for that, sounds like the customer service is st. I would have been on the phone asking to speak to "the captain" immediately, or addressing Rob Chapman in public via his Facebook. If they want to ship guitars with flaws and ignore customers who want it put right, people have a right to know.
