I didn't know about this association with F's lawsuits at all.

After posting that I thought, nah, it would have to be much older, maybe not?!

It's not the value (wobble), but it gives it that little bit more coolness than I could ever give it!!!

biggrin.

So what's my 1st baby worth then?

Tokai were cheeky. They went so far as to name their LP copy the Les Paul reborn. Gibson didn't let that lie for long & it was renamed the Love Rock, which is as dodgy a name as I can think of.

From what I understand a lawsuit Tokai strat goes for around £500 - £650ish depending on condition and uh...originality, not bad for a Japanese copy. I've never played one, but I was in a band for a while with a guy who had one & he loved it to bits, reckoned it was far superior to anything Fender were making at the time.

Tokai were one of the worst:

Justin, I think my Strat over in Spain has that headstock (bought it new in the mid eighties).

Have I got one of these "lawsuit guitars" referred to earlier? eek

That would be a bit cool, IMO, for me!!! biggrin
That'd be cool for anyone! I remember seeing a nice surf green used Tokai strat for like £800 only a month ago in a shop. (But I'll give you £60 for yours! wink)

As for music, it's just sound; for guitars, it is looks, sound and most importantly 'feel'. I don't see the similarities in that comaparison. Personally, I buy what I like, the name in the headstock has no influence on my decisions.

Yeah, I don't wish to sound like some kind of cod expert on guitars, I'm not at all, just a bloke who likes playing them & has a bit of a fetish for nice ones, but ultimately it's all about what you can do, not what you've got. yes

Well FWIW, I always thought she played well and sounded good before I knew about the lawsuit stuff.
(You never forget the first guitar you learned to tune by ear!!!)

Just adds a new dimension to the character.

Thanks for info, so probably worth about what I paid in the mid eighties then. hehe

Bought well for once... if only I could apply that once to cars, just once, I'd be even happier. wink

LOL! It seems Tokai are the only ones doing this. I've never seen Burny, Greco, Edwards et al. have names like this. Some of the Tokai LP copies at their UK site had me salivating. Their Flame/Quilt tops look stunning and look like their 5A/4A designation. Unlike some others I could mention. Don't seem to find many dealers for these in the UK though?

In a similar vein, I've been searching for a Bender Distortocaster for ages...

He also does a Jellycaster, Less Paul, Bender Collision bass and many others.

Tempted by Ovations new Yngwie beasty...always play a lot of guitar lounging around, so play a lot of electric unplugged as they are easier to handle than bulky acoustics when lying on the sofa etc.
Came across the Viper Yngwie, scalloped fingerboard & narrow body...could be just the job.....dont seem to be any in the UK yet, but a few stateside...not cheap either....hmmm will 'mull'

Just thought I'll add my other guitar in here. It is my first ever guitar. It has seen a lot of fun and frustrated times in my playing...It still gets played every now and then but takes a back seat to my tele. It has very hot pickups, which I put on when I was much younger and into heavier stuff...not much appeal now. I keep it for some sentimental value, I guess, it's worth nothing otherwise as it is a starter guitar. So here it is, my humble strat: Crafter ST

Lovely. I imagine you won't be getting rid of that in a hurry.

How long have you had it?

Great figuring on this one here, a nice tight grain offset by a subtle finish. The first two look like they are made from knackered old kitchen tables though, I hope they don't come with a premium!

No they're all one price for the wood, there is a scale depending on what hardware & electrics you may want. I've gone for a 7.25" maple neck, gotoh bridge & 3 way switch.

Sorry to disappoint but I've also asked Ron to select as barn door a piece of wood for the body as he can find. It will be a gnarly old floorboard of an axe.
