That is superb, 10/10.

Justin hasn't shut up about that Telecaster for a while now, a friend of mine had one similar and it was a lovely sounding guitar. I don't have any pics though, here is a generic one from google:

Picked this up a little while ago.

Words cannot express how much I love it...

2011 Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster Custom Deluxe FMT HSS... what a name!

Birdseye maple neck, abalone fret markers & top markers, CS deluxe two-point tremolo, Seymour Duncan TB-11 'Custom Custom' humbucker, 2x Master Design singlecoils, locking Schaller tuners, AA flamed maple top finished in Candy Blue (stained wood, pearlescent transparent lacquer), with a swamp ash body underneath.

Pretty much plays itself. smile

Cool looking strat! Bloody hell, the Custom Custom 'bucker! How are you finding that in the strat?! It is one of the hottest passive 'buckers I've heard. That thing is like having an instant 'boost' button on hand for goosing the front-end of an amp. It's like being punched in the chest, that brute.

Very nice. Interesting construction though - a bit like a Les Paul. Does it sound any different to a "normal" strat?

I was in my favourite guitar shop on Friday trying to decide between these two:

Gibson LP Classic

PRS Custom 22 Singlecut

- I didn't realise they had that same Strat in!

It's not quite Les Paulish. Not set neck, no mahogany body, maple neck- still sounds very Stratty. Although, the overall sound is a very well-balanced one. It's got a strange darkness from the swamp ash that's counteracted by the brightness of the maple neck & top. Pickups are beautifully chosen for it.

Not quite on this! The model name is the TB-11, and again, it seems fairly even in its tone. It's certainly quite aggressive, sounds amazing for slide! The most beautiful tones are the neck and middle though. In-between positions are pure funk and Dire Straights stuff, but the individual neck & mid sounds are simply lovely.

Interesting. I remember trying out a Schecter Solo-6 Custom (LP copy) and being told it had a SD Custom Custom in the bridge (w/ coil tap and everything). As you say, I found it very aggressive but smooth mid-range with a hairy/spiky top end. Mind you, I was playing through the Mesa mini-Rectifier! hehe Even so, it was pushing the amp hard when playing clean...It is not the first thing that'll come to mind when thinking of putting 'bucker in a strat but I guess Fender CS must be going for a EVH vibe with this. How are you finding the balance of the sound with the single coils? Probably very unbalanced. You should think of putting a coil tap for that bucker as I found it coil tap's really well (usual for high output HBs) for beefy single coil sounds/spanky/country-esque vibe. smile

(The CustomCustom in the Schecter appears to be a SH-11 while yours is a TB-11. Wonder what the differences are...ETA: It's the same thing SH-11 for Gibson string spacing and TB-11: Fender string spacing)

Les Pauls are fantastic if you can find a good one. I'm not sure what they're like now but I spent years looking for mine so if you love the way it plays then go for it! PRSs are a lot more consistent in my limited experience, or at least I've never played a bad one.

I can honestly say I barely notice a huge level change! Once I get my recording gear back up together then I'll gladly record something for you...

As it happens, I'm a total heathen- I hate singlecoils at the bridge. I've only ever owned Strats with humbuckers at the bridge, despite having tried many with singlecoils. One of my little idiosyncrasies as a player, and when Fender came out with this I had to have it. Literally my perfect spec Strat. Shame the ex put a dent in it...

thumbup Hey, ain't nothin' wrong with a bit of beef in the bridge. I too hate thin sounding strat bridge p'ups, but I like the single coil for it ability to cut through in a live band situation when you've got keys/acoustic guitars in the mix, and would like to carve out a bit of sonic space for yourself among the clutter...you tend have to really work with the HBs to do that, whereas the single coils in my situation fall in place easily, without much work. Of course, recording is another matter entirely where you tend to go for a guitar/pickup combo that gives you the sound you're going for...

Fender CS must have done a great job with the single coils in that strat to balance well with the 'bucker. Do post clips. beer

I like the quack out of the bridge pup in the strat. It sounds like the strat to me, but when I listen to recordings of myself, it can sound harsh. I think tinnitus is responsible.
