You swine 6th Gear!

I've been hankering after a cherry 335 ever since I got the blue one, let's hope you haven't pushed me over the edge, neither bank balance or space permit such an indulgence!

It has been a happy NGD here!

Can't believe the quality of these Squiers. The 'board is very dark, almost ebony like. Plays well, except the nasty string buzz behind the bridge...gonna sort it tomorrow by raising the saddles a bit as a temporary measure. Have got a replacement bridge on the way so the strings don't jump out of the saddles. Loving the pickups on these and the rhythm circuit is lush! smile

Nowt wrong with a Squier. Nice guitars are nice to have but it's what you can do rather than what you've got that counts.

Gibson VOS 63' 335. Plays a dream smile
Stunning!

I have a lefty ES-335 (Cherry Red, standard factory model) and absolutely love it. Love to use both pickups together (toggle switch middle setting)

Couldn't agree more. Picked this up for my son wink on Friday and have we've been playing it ever since...

Spec here and have to say it's an absolute joy to play. The satin neck is just perfect, the build quality is as good as the MIM teles I looked at and it cost a frankly ridiculous £149.

Got to love discontinued models. smile

^Nice. The 60th Anni Squier strat had an unbelievable flame on the neck and I mean custom shop grade neck. I have never seen anything like it on a 'normal' guitar. Heck, even the MIA Standard 60th Anni wasn't as showy. Was very tempted.

I had to re-learn how to play (and still am learning, of course) after many, many years not playing. I'm making (slow) progress but these 4 help -

My first purchase after deciding I wanted to play again:

I love this, the action is spot on and it replaced a cheap Jackson:

Liked the Indie so much I got another one (both off eBay):

Trying to get to grips with bass as well:

Nice selection to choose from there.smile It's surprising how many of us, (cough) slightly more mature players that have laid off the guitar for many years and have now come back to it in middle age.

I never completely stopped, but only picked it up every 3-4 months for half an hour or so at a time for the last 15 years or so and not very much for 10 years before that. Got back into it properly this year myself and I play so much more than I used to. I'm no where near as good as I should be after 40 years playing, but I enjoy it as I get to play in a 'band' at an evening college class, which pushes me to practice for the next week having to get up and play in front of everyone.

Hope to have something to add to this thread soon; going to look at a White Blonde 50s Telecaster tomorrow night, should be an upgrade over my £100 Affinity Telecaster. smile

Finally got hold of the seller and picked up this barely used 50's Classic Telecaster tonight, finished in lacquer (as opposed to the poly version they also sell). The seller is going back to just acoustic so threw in a small orange 12 watt amp, a Boss tuner pedal, cable, Fender strap and the lockable Fender 'Tweed' hardcase (which comes with the lacquer finished model). All for £140 less than the poly version (with gig bag only) would have cost new in the shop. Only six months old and I peeled the cellophane off the pick guard after I took these photos.

It's got the 7.25" radius fingerboard and vintage (small) frets so feels very similar to my '57 RI Squier Strat I recently got back from restoration. I've found that I prefer this radius to the more modern 9.5" and higher ones. I was going to change the neck on the Squier Tele I already have, but once I've sold on the unwanted bits I got tonight and the Squier Tele itself I reckon the new guitar will stand me at the same price as a new neck would have done.

It sounds different to the Squier Tele too (even though I fitted upgraded Fender OV pickups to the Squier). I'm going to experiment with swapping the OVs on to the new guitar, but if it loses the brilliant twang from the bridge pick up I'll put back the standard one and sell the OVs separately.

First time I've owned a guitar that isn't a Squier/Epiphone (even if it is made in Mexico):

String through body, saves me mucking about trying mod my Squire into one from being a 'top loader':

Like that a lot. Big craving for a Tele ever since watching Crossroads as a kid. A tortoiseshell pic guard would set that mellowed neck off a treat.

Thanks B17NNS, something about a Tele straight into the amp and just going for it.

In theory it should have a black pick guard (if it really was an early 1950s Tele), but I prefer the white, never thought about tort though; have to look at some pics on line I think. The neck is actually more 'mellowed' than my 32 year old '57 RI JV Squier Strat (but that neck is poly as far as I know, though I did have the body refinished in nitro).

Hey, just my opinion, the only thing important is that you're into it. smile

I think the tort is a little less stark than the black.

I pop onto the Fender site every now and again and you can play around with the configurator.

House move forces sale. Hate that phrase, anyway....

My ESP LTD EC-100 in black is for sale - been trying to sell it for £380, it was a £1000 new.

getting a bit of interest but do you reckon £350 is top end?

its a stunning piece of kit, reluctant to sell but we can;t sit on concrete floors in the new house...

Pretty much, unless you get lucky enough to find someone who really fancies one.

I assume you mean an EC-1000? The 100 is a shade over £300 brand new from GAK!

Ouch. I'm glad my habit revolves around used Les Pauls.

What a beautiful tele!

An EC-1000 for £350! Ouch. I'm sure some metal kid will come along and snap that up! It's pretty popular in that circles.
