Yep it has a locking trem. Tbh when I did play I tended to leave it unlocked as it was a pain to tune otherwise.
The colour is different! Not sure if it's correct, but I'm sure somebody told me Mark Knopfler played one in the same colour.

That's a kahler trem I think?? Was mean to give you the Floyd rose effect without the excessive routing... Only tried them a couple of times and not the biggest fan. Love love love the 80s Japanese strats and that neck looks like it's just starting to get nicely worn in If you ever want to sell it let me know
[quote=6th Gear]The Orca has landed.
The guitar has exceeded all expectations. This one is a keeper.
The flame top and carve on the Orca is stunning.
No man should ever buy a guitar because it goes with his scatter cusions..
I've been a long time lurker on this thread, but have only just bought a really cheap guitar, yours looks fantasic, but, what exactly is it?

Has anyone here relocated the volume pot on a Strat? Mine is annoying the hell out of me and am considering moving it to where the middle tone knob is and just having a master tone.
The hole where it used to be could be a bit annoying though. Anyone had a go at this, or should I just play my other guitars and leave it alone?

You could do that, and get another scratchplate, get a blank one and drill the holes you need. The hole where it used to be could be a bit annoying though. Anyone had a go at this, or should I just play my other guitars and leave it alone?

Here's mine I bought a few years ago.
So I've decided that I really need to build myself a pedal board.... better start buying some pedals! I've got a few more to obtain before I get my (perceived) ideal set-up, but what you see here is a few weeks of careful sniping on eBay.
Just a Time Machine, a chorus (Wampler Nirvava) and a reverb (Wampler faux spring) to go.... and the one-spot power, with a Fuel Tank T-Rex. And the case! (+cables) Better get saving again....
Just finished building this one from a kit, having strung it up I'm waiting for the neck to settle before doing the truss rod and proper setup but it intonates well and has a most un-Tele sound.
Ash body, maple neck, Schaller humbuckers ( 1970s vintage ), Wilkinson compensated bridge.
Also have PBass and Strat kits under construction as well

I think I am going to go down your route for a bit of an experiment and see how it works out - may go down the Dave Gilmour route and get a black one! Thanks bennyboysvuk said:
After a very long time coming, I'm finally the proud new owner of a Gibson Les Paul Custom 1960 Re-issue, complete with CTS pots and bumble bee caps. I've only spent one very enjoyable hour playing it so far (with ringing ears as a result). I love it to bits and will never sell it.
Wow That is gorgeous, I was lucky enough to play one a few months back (59 collectors choice I think) and it was a dream to play. Sounded incredible too, my plan is to treat myself to one at the next milestone birthday. 5 minutes in and I knew I had to own one at some point. There is something incredibly special about them, hard to describe.
Is your one reliced at all? Looks like it has a lovely flame on it as well, enjoy!

Thank you for the nice comment. Mine was supposed to be for my 40th, but that's a few years away and the opportunity came a little early, so I leapt at it. The choice was between this or a second hand '59. I played both for quite some time and eventually I went with the '60 purely for the neck feel. For the stuff I play I just prefer the slimmer neck and the '60 will give me greater pleasure over the years. That is gorgeous, I was lucky enough to play one a few months back (59 collectors choice I think) and it was a dream to play. It appears very, very slightly relic'd. The pickup covers are dull and the screws look old. The bridge is aluminium so naturally dulls quite fast. It just looks age correct to me, without going over the top. i.e. there's no wear anywhere and no dents or scuffs. The flame is light, but it's almost hologramatic as you move it around in the light. It's mesmerising to a guitarist like me.
The day before I bought this, I played the 2015 line up of Les Paul 'bursts and they've made the neck (fretboard) taller and changed the nut and it just doesn't feel like a classic Les Paul. It's at that point that I knew I wanted a much older model and I'm delighted with what I chose.
Good luck with finding one you love too. They're beautiful guitars and like you say, feel very special to own.
