I saw the advert on eBay. It was pure chance, I've wanted one for a while despite the bad first experience playing one, I just happened to find this one for sale a few miles away so I was able to skip the eBay process and just buy it from the bloke in person.

Gumtree is as good as any place to sell gear, that and eBay are the first things people think of when they're looking for musical stuff. It's a shame Reverb.com hasn't really taken off in this country.

I had the Strat when they were new.

The neck is the same as the Jackson's and is a compound radius fretboard 16-20" iirc.

I found that mine sounded absolutely immense but I could never bond with the compound fretboard.

The Tele and strat are interchangeable for feel due to the belly cut imo.

Brilliant guitars, just a shame I've got a gimp hand.

Talking of gimp hands; that's why I'm selling my 50s Tribute LP as I've realised the thicker neck aggravates some problems I've been having with my left hand/4th finger.

It's a pain because in order to swap for the slim taper 60s neck model I'll have to put around £240 into it just to end up with the same guitar but with a neck that suits my hand. Having said that; I'm going for a different colour that wasn't an option when I bought mine, so at least it looks a bit nicer than the satin black one. I just hope the buyer turns up to view as we know what private sales can be like with cars and I imagine guitars aren't much different...wish me luck. smile

I managed to sell my black 50s Tribute on Friday night using Gumtree. I got quite a lot of interest for it too, so maybe I under priced it, but I got it on a good deal so I only lost £39 on it. The neck was just too wide for my small hands.

With the money burning a hole in my pocket I searched every guitar shop website, eBay and Gumtree where I found a 2011 60s Tribute Gold Top. Now I've never really been into Gold Tops, but since getting the 50s Tribute I've seen a lot of them on various guitar forums and they've grown on me. Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I'm now beholding. smile The neck on this 2011 model is even slimmer than a 2016 60s Tribute I was considering buying, so it really suits my small hands and hopefully will be less likely to aggravate a problem I have particularly with my 4th finger. It seems very nicely set up too, so I shouldn't have to take it for fret work; I think I'll be OK with these slighly taller frets than my other guitars.

This is one of the advert pictures:

One I took when I got home, which makes it look more bronze than it really is, but it was starting to get dark:

I know they can be a bit 'marmite' but I'm really pleased with the outcome.

Very nice looking guitar. I've been looking for a Tele to add to my small collection.

That's a nice colour combination with the sunburst and black scratchplate. I'm partial to a Tele as well. smile

Nice Tele. Definitely on my list.

I've been waiting for a 2016 Firebird since last October and was about to get the last one when I noticed the 2017 ones are about to be released and they now do it in blue. So, which one, classic or blue?

Gold and a Les Paul shape with P90s.

Sorry...still enjoying my new toy. I like the classic one myself.

Heh, heh, I do LOVE that Goldtop but I just can't get on with P90s. The crazy thing is that I've never knowingly heard a P90, I just prefer the look of a PAF :boxed:

What can I listen to to hear a P90?

Thanks for the shout BTW, I still can't make my mind up. May have to get both hehe

I know that the looks can be very divisive, especially of Gold Tops. You can get chrome covers for P90s too. Funny because I don't like uncovered pickups on other Les Pauls, especially the 'zebra' type, but I know some people go mad for them. I want to upgrade the pickups on my Epiphone and they will have metal covers.

I really like the sound of P90s; more output than my Fenders, brighter than my Epiphone with standard humbuckers, but quite as much output, but plenty of 'bite'. I'm sure there must be plenty of songs they've been used on but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Well I'm not so taken with the overdrive, but I bought it for the cleaner tones which I'm loving with my Strat or Telecaster. It's not too heavy either, so if I fancy taking it out to an open mic gig or round to a friend's house it won't break my back.

I seem to be collecting 'Tweed':

I really love the tweed case. I have a Highway One Telecaster; it is butterscotch blonde, with black scratch-plate and maple fingerboard. It only came with a gig-bag though.

I have always loved the Tele David Gilmour played on 'Run Like Hell' on the 'Pulse' tour (which inspired me to learn guitar), and the one I bought looked like a good match.

They told me in the shop that the finish will crack as it ages, which I loved the idea of, as I like the worn look, however, it still looks perfect and every time it takes a knock, I sh*t myself.

The other odd thing is I am unlikely to gig with it. I haven't gigged for few years due to other commitments, but I have almost always played bass. It still doesn't stop me wanting That tweed case for my Tele though!
