That is shocking. The Duchess was typical of the kind of venues I used to love going to.
Can't remember for the life of me which fecking bands I saw there though scratchchin

ETA
Has the market for small venues really gone? Surely, plenty of new bands still build their reputation on the live circuit; they can't all rely on myspace etc, can they?

Never really got into either of these bands. Found them a bit.... 'poppy'. In fact, put that Theatre of Hate video in front of most people and their first guess will be that it's Bros hehe
Aye, I just like those two tracks. TBH with Goth as well I never moved on past the usual suspects of Sisters of Mercy, Mission, Fields of the Nephilim. That said with Sisters did you really need to, I can stick Lucretia on repeat all the way to work and back, great track.

I remember one time me and another couple of squaddies were sat in a car while the l$uanderette was shrinking our uniforms and there was a young lad struggling to inflate his bicycle tyre outside the newsagents next door when Elvis C and Pump it up came on the Radio. Well it would be rude not to, we wound down the car windows , cranked up the volume and sang along the chorus PUMP IT UP!! to the poor lad , who looked terrified..lol

Best ever track - "Smile"

The Fall

There are others, too many to mention, but

"The Fall, always the same, always different"
what he said.

can't better the fall realy, and that isn't an opinion, it's a fact.

That's a bit forward isn't it wink

Grew up in Colchester; moved away as young adult and have now come back to grow old disgracefully. Well, until I can afford to escape again, at least.

Great thread.

My two favs are :

The Bahaus Classic - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=mriBc6NjUhg

And Joy Divisions Classic, covered by a Goth Great - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=szua7uP6agY

I'd also like people's opinion on this track VVVV. I was a big fan of Ska at the time and think this is great modern interpretation of that genre. Comments....
