I'm now tempted to get my turntable and several crates of vinyl out of the attic this weekend.... live band faves were the Undertones, Clash, UK Subs and the Ramones.
We're seperated at birth, Mate. biggrin

This clip of the Subs is brilliant. It shows why Nicky Garrett must be the second most under-rated punk guitarist..... after Brian James, obviously.

Spent most of my school life into Numan and synthpop before discovering the Sisters just before I went to Poly in coughPontypriddcough. Fell in with the local goth crowd and a certain someone in particular who got me into the Cardiff goth scene. Dozens of the buggers taking over the tea rooms in St David's Hall on a saturday afternoon before hitting the pubs then on to Nero's for the sat night goth disco or a gig. Saw the Cramps, Killing Joke, the Medics and loads of others, but mainly remember The Mission who we saw a lot, including their first tour just after the Sisters split when there was about 100 people tops watching them at the New Ocean club. Later going to see Cure at Wembley (Kiss tour) in December and sleeping in the freezing toilets at Kings Cross station after. Happy days smile

Recommend the A Life Less Lived cd compilation for anyone fancying a nostalgia trip.

I went to the Lyceum that night too! i remember not being able to see the band for the smoke! i was up on a balcony, great night. that was before i realised eldritch was a completely dick mind.. wink
But don't you think that Eldritch is one of those egos who is such a dick that he left the end of the spectrum and was/is, therefore, cool?

Do you 'get' what I mean?
kind of.. but more kind of foolish figure of fun after a while.... I saw depeche at crystal palace bowl years later and he was supporting, at the end of his little slot he said "enjoy the puppet show".. ha! DM have sold more records than he has black t-shirts etc... 'dick' aside, i treasure my gatefold first album, and just love 'black planet'. they were pretty damn good live, i have to say, but i'd never wear a t-shirt.....

incidentally, at that gig, i didnt realise at that point that Dr. Avalanche was a drum machine, i just thought i couldnt see the drummer because of the dry ice.... tongue out
Funny you say that. I was never a big 'Sisters' fan, but my little brother had two tickets for the Albert Hall and his mate let him down.
They had a big net holding the dry-ice in and we were three songs in before I realised they didn't have a drummer.
Met Nasty Suicide from Hanoi Rocks at that gig....

No but I've got the video, which is almost the same thing.

Look just let's assume it is alright? Not that I'm bitter about it or anything. Grr.

Then, yes, I was there. You should have said hello.
Our tickets were up in a box, but we dodged past some old geezer on the door to the auditorium and got right down the front.

Ah, there's a band. Saw them at City Limits in Cambridge in the mid-80s.

Sorry mate, but The Cure is 'goth for girls'. It's goth for Top of the Pops. It's goth for nice girls in Laura Ashley dresses to dance to to and feel that they are beng rebellious.

Electric wasn't a bad album; though, pretentiously enough, I'm more a Southern Death Cult guy wink

nono

You can't dance to the best Cure stuff i.e. Pornography, Faith, 17 Seconds, Disintegration (well maybe a bit of shrugging to Primary and A Forest...)

And there's absolutely nothing whatsoever with having a little something in your arsenal which will lure nice girls in Laura Ashley dresses to your lair wink
