As for tenuous links... closest I got to Johnny Thunders would have been seeing Hanoi Rocks playing a couple of times in Colchester - once in '84 and again in '86, I think.

A few hours in the Intrepid Fox across the road before gigs was always a laugh too. Last time I walked past, it was run down and looked like it only served the homeless.
