Just looking down my list of 'contributions' I was confused as to when and why I had ever contributed to a thread about fleet foxes hehe

I'd also recommend their album 'Sun Giant'.

I thought Sun Giant was an EP?

Anyways... Fleet Foxes is brilliant. First new band I've heard for a long time that I've really enjoyed listening to.

Thanks to an old flame who put me on to them - I'd never have heard of them otherwise being stuck out here in Dubai.

All we need now is for Circulus and my old mate Mike to make a fist of it and we could have both sides of the Atlantic covered.

As far as influences are concerned, it really is a whole bunch of folksy stuff from both sides of the pond - as mentioned, CS&N appear quite heavily but there is a huge nod towards the UK's 70's electric folk bands. One part of 'Mykonos' is lifted straight from a track by The Trees called 'Murdock' - nothing wrong with that at all as it is a stunning track, 'Murdock' that is.

bought this on cd [very very rare for me] a few weeks ago after listening to it at a friend's house. first 'new' music in a long while i've gotten into.

its easy to see the CSNY influence, and a lot of the late 60's laurel canyon sound is there in general - buffalo springfield, love, etc. on 'blue ridge mountain' he even sounds like neil young!

Folky, rock/pop with multi-part harmonies and lyrical richness? That's my best stab....
Yes, from your description it sounds like my Mum would like that.

Thanks

Does your Mum like good music and you don't?

Agree with the positive comments about this album. It's definitely got the makings of a classic in that there is no dud on the album.

Great music, listening to it now to drown out the noise of my mental neighbour!
