I had the same horror when my niece (age 7) starting singing 'apple bottom jeans'
which means what?
Seconded. That means nothing to me.
I think it relates to women with fat arses jiggling in their Apple Bottom Jeans, Hip hop videos etc
Nope - its just a brand of clothing.
(i couldn't understand the problem either so i googled it)

See I've never heard the non-radio edit, I always assumed that the said "Oh I like it in the (censored) arse, the middle of the bed"

I was shocked and disgusted to find out Lily isn't as filthy as I thought.

I guess the Lyrics might be a bit....dodgy for a 7yo

But on the other hand, shouldn't have had kids in todays society if you didn't expect them to pick up these things.

I was wondering what some of the missing words were (including that line) so I googled it and found the words really were quite tame, so she really isn't as filthy as you may have liked:

That line was: " As I lie here in the wet patch, in the middle of the bed"....I think she's just singing a song about a leaking roof or something.

That's one of the great things about edited songs - often you will think the edited word is far stronger than it actually is

Well I have no control over what she watches and doesn’t. However, I don't think it is having children that is the problem, it is however the overexposure of sex on the radio and TV. Whether that is because her mother (the parent she lives with) allows this or because it very accessible, I do not know. Like many Pher's when she started signing the lyrics it made no sense at all to me, once explained I was shocked.

Exactly. You either have kids and accept society is what it is. Or you change society "for the better" then have kids. But you can't be surprised when you have kids and they start to reflect society.

Like her, like the tune, BUT, when my 9 year old daughter starts singing the lyrics 'Giving you head in the middle of the bed' I'm thinking, why cant you save the track for the album!

I know I sound like a grumpy old codger but.....wait till you have kids!
In Lilly Allen's defence, I heard her on the radio defending this very issue and her response was that she doesn't write songs for kids (she said she leaves that to the Sugarbabes!!) and that it is up to parents to control what their kids listen to.

I remember as a 9 year old copying the Derek and Clive Ad-Nauseum cassette off a mate and our favourite song for a long while was Plaistow Patricia by Ian Dury which makes Lilly Allen look positively nun-like!

No you can have kids. But you have to accept that society is what it is and it will influence them (or you have them in blind faith that the world is all flowers and kittens....).

It's not JUST about the lyrics you know.

How do you cope with instrumental music? winkbiggrin
To be honest I dont normally listen to lyrics (much the the wife's annoyance) but radio edits do often sound blatently edited.
It's just bad song writing ability.

Why?

Radio edits are just for kids.

It's actually; "Oh I lie here in the wet patch, in the middle of the bed, I'm feeling pretty damn hard-done-by, I spent ages giving head.."

I would say it's not appropriate for youngsters personally.

Why do I have to accept it? Can I not try and change it for the better? Can I not try and shield my child from the worst aspects? Or should I just sit her in front of Eastenders at the age of 3 and say fill yer boots?
