Notwithstanding Katie White's back-door-smashing potential, does anyone else wonder just how long the Emperor's New Tings will be tolerated rolling out exactly the same act and exactly the same set every single time they're asked to appear anywhere? Or is that just me?

Hate them with a vengance. Saw a bit of them on Glastonbury, then promptly switched over.

Did exactly the same at the Isle of Wight. They were shockingly bad.

How much material can you real expect them to have? It's not as if they have a huge back catalog to pick from.

Apparently, they're really good. That's what the critics say, anyway.

I like them too.

I wouldn't expect them to blow me away with their live performances, but that is doesn't mean their crap.

They've only done one album, what the hell else do you expect them to play?

They were very good.
Then they got signed and went in front of the masses.

They are now decidely average.

The thing that gets me is the moronic lyrics.

Flicked over onto Glastonbury last night and the manky frontwoman was just going yeah yeah yeah (or something like that), so I turned over, after about 30 seconds scooting through the channels I ended up back on Glastonbury, and she was now singing, The Drums, The Drums, The Drums, The Drums, The Drums, The Drums, The Drums, The Drums.......FFS woman shut up. shoot

Then there is that other song, That's Not my Name, That's not my name, that's not my name, that's not my nnnnnnnnn.................ame. Yes we get the message mad

Don't know where this thing has come from where you have to repeat the same words or verse, over and over and over again.

Scouting For Girls are another band who seem to do this.

Do they not have a wide enough vocabulary to write different lyrics rather than constatntly repeating?

You listen to european bands, i.e Scandanavia and their lyric writing (in English) is far better than a lot of ours.

tons of pop songs are built around repetition - it's what makes the fckers catchy.......

There is a difference between catchy and down right annoying wink

The Ting Tings lyrics make Stock Aitken and Waterman's look like Lennon & McCartney in comparison.

one of the few bands that make me spit my teeth out at the radio - utter, utter tripe and the sooner their time in the sun is done the better.

Just my thoughts of course - they did win an Ivan Novello so they must have made some records I haven't heard...

But that's exactly my point - since they appeared about 2 years ago they've written NOTHING new and just churn out the same old pap. They seemed good when they first appeared but they haven't progressed one iota since. That drives my "Emperor's New Clothes" position - people think they're good because they've been told they're good, but actually, stand back and look/listen for a moment and see what's actually missing......
