Quick mention for LFO, not the greatest but could well have done the most damage to speakers.

LFO - LFO

Ah yes, legend biggrin

Bass drops rather too low (the first time at 0:48) for the PC speakers to audibly reproduce...

Just having a bit of a sort through on i-tunes and just remembered this one...

Annie Lennox : Legend In My Living Room. The record starts with a very nice punchy bass line that flicks between the speakers.

Not the best basslines by any measure, but Guy the Geezer in full showflow.

1.25 onwards for the bass, last 30 seconds for the laugh.

Classic bass riff - Alice in Chains - Would?
Fantastic Song....music
Yeah been listening to them alot recently after hearing Nutshell on Radio 1 of all place earlier this week.

Check out their Unplugged album if you haven't already, super stuff...RIP Layne.
Fantastic album! I love no excuses on it - a masterpiece
I've got all of their stuff and I was lucky enough to see them live twice - Camden Underworld and Brixton Academy...

I've recently been listening to Mad Season - Above the album Layne did with Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees) and Mike Mcready (Pearl Jam) - it is very good but depressing...

Shoudl see AiC live with the new guy next month at Sonisphere - just hope he is as good as people say he is!

What about the begining of smells like teen spirit by Nirvana.
what about it?

4 guitar chords? bass playing root notes in the verses?

Lounge Act has a nice bass intro. though
yes

As a couple have said RATM basslines are mostly brilliant, especially Bulls on Parade.

Radiohead - The National Anthem has one of my favourites, but I can't remember all of the ones that I love as much that haven't been mentioned yet.

(I'll try)

Daft Punk - Around the World
Desert Sessions - Crawl Home (very crunchy!)
Eels - Souljacker Part 1
Elbow - Leaders of the Free World
Jamiroquai - Alright, High Times, Deeper Underground
Kelis - Milkshake (not a great bassline, but one that I like)
Korn - Blind (the bit at the start)
Kyuss - El Rodeo
Limp Bizkit - Re-arranged
Muse - Citizen Erased, Muscle Museum, Hysteria, Hyper Music
Queens of the Stone Age - Mexicola, Give the Mule What He Wants, Better Living Through Chemistry
Radiohead - Like Spinning Plates

That'll do for now.

+1

Entwistle was def best apreciated live as he used to do things like that all the time plus little fills and duelling with Townshend too, i'd loved to have seen the man live!...

Its definetely true that The Who never had a "Bass player" or "Bassist" when he was around, Entwistle was a proper Bass "guitarist"! music

RIP Thunderfingers

ETA - another nice line,

FNM, Evidence - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPuSJeVOw7I

Billy Gould, a very versatile player
