Groove Armada Superstylin

curiously, this needs a mono bass channel, or 2 loud separate speakers, as each channel has a slight phase difference that needs to interact with each other. good quality headphones ruin it!

Ah... i remember when speed garage was speed garage, not that modern crap that uses the same name. If you can't hum the bassline, then i'm not interested!

I would have called it a bass line.

Almost anything that John Entwistle did should be up there amongst the best.

Surely we need to include:

The Congos - Heart of the Congons, the whole album is basstastic!

The Clash - Guns of Brixton

The Clash - Mag 7

and finally,

Culture - the land where we belong

The best is 'Good Times' by Chic - copied by everyone including Queen but never bettered.

Most of Mark King/Level 42 stuff is good.

Stanley Clarke's 'Vulcan Princess' is pretty good too.

Toots and the Maytals '54-46 That's My Number' is also good.

Any Georgio Moroder pulsed bass too.

Too right, I recall that Under The Bridge has a fairly interesting bassline all the way through.

A good Primus number

John The Fisherman - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofuQ14Jd6E4

Shame i can't find a decent version of Tommy The Cat on YT tho'....

LC's solo efforts are heavily bass driven too!,

Phantom Patriot - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MlBoXCZtsM

One Better - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwYbjAg0yoc

Great call on John Entwistle too, that man was a bass genius!,

Thunderfingers Royal Albert '00 Jam - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVl39LBZGMw

Also Anything by Rush, Led Zep's "Heartbreaker", Most Faith No More, Most RHCP/Flea (his jam sessions on YT are ace!) and anything by Larry Graham are bassticular too IMO!
