A few more from me:

Quicksand - Slip
Fugazi - In On The Killtaker
both packed with post punk goodness.

Gravediggaz - Niggamortis (or 6 Feet Deep to give it it's more politically correct European release title!) Wu Tang Clan's Horrorcore Rap side project, extremely dark but still up to Wu Tang's high standards. Don't bother with any of their other 2 releases, they're shockingly bad in comparison!

Iron Monkey - Iron Monkey, a grimy, sludgy gem of an album.

jaymzdead..........slip changed hardcore forever,i was gutted when the recentish reunion turned sour.i would say manic compression was just as good.going backwards from quicksand i still absolutely love start today by gorilla biscuits. i know it`s a purely personal thing but i would say repeater is far and away the best fugazi album.ps.there is some really obscure live fugazi stuff floating about on youtube

Difficult to get into that one - probably better to start with Epic (old but accessible) or Album of the Year (IMHO their best).

Most people do seem to think that Repeater is the best Fugazi album, I just think that ...Killtaker has more more spiky raw sound to it. There is also some awesome youtube footage of Gorilla Biscuits' reunion gig at CBGBs a couple of years ago too, I did have the whole show downloaded somewhere, must search that one out. Another album that definately changed hardcore: Refused - The Shape Of Punk To Come.

A MASSIVELY under-rated album and one that's been in my collection for years. Good call!

Just to add a little hip hop fun try :-

Ugly Duckling - Journey to anywhere
People Under The Stairs - Questions in the form of an answer
DJ Format - Music for mature B boys

How about a bit of hardcore with

HateBreed - The rise of brutality

Maybe try some new wave punk with

NOFX - White trash, two heebs and a bean

And finish with a some thing a bit more "main stream"

Anthrax - Sound of white noise

rise of brutality is in my cd changer right now.if you like this then try vendetta by throwdown.even heavier and rhythmically much more tight than hatebreed.ignore their most recent effort venom and tears.it`s a stty plastic nod to pantera

I forgot

Flogging Molly - Drunken Lullabies

Frank Turner - Sleep is for the Week

Machine Head - Through the Ashes of Empires

All excellent albums that are worth at least one listen.

I was thinking The Real Thing but I reckon Angel Dust is the more original album. It does take a few listens though you are right.

With regards to The Rise of Brutality by Hatebreed, I thought I'd like it but only found 2 decent songs on it. Vendetta by Throwdown is a fair recommendation but shouldnt really be on this thread!

Lots of good shouts coming up here, on the topic of best Fugazi album I'd have to plump for 'Red Medicine' closely followed by Killtaker. In line with the Shape of Punk to Come recommendation I'd like to add Bad Brains self titled, 'Jane Doe' by Converge and '0:12 Revolution in Listening' by Coalesce.

Here's a few I'd recommend

Ladytron - Witching Hour (electronica)
Rise Against - Sufferer and the Witness (punk rock)
VNV Nation - Judgment (electronica)
Biohazard- State of the World Address (hardcore)
Ignite - Our Darkest Days (punk)
Boysetsfire - After the Eulogy (hardcore)
Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip - Angels (hip hop, but with brains)
Hadouken - Music for An Accelerated Generation (rock/dance/crossover)
Dropkick Murphys - Blackout (Irish themed punk rock)

Ryan Adams & The Cardinals - Cold Roses. A mixture of alternative, country, blues, rock, punk, from one of the most versatile musicians and gifted song writers to come along in years.

Aerosmith - Rocks. A forgotten classic. Ignore some of their stuff from the past 20 years as this is a must for anyone who has ever liked Guns N Roses, The Rolling Stones, Led Zep, etc.

Filter - Title Of Record. Pop rock and industrial metal meet from this former Nine Inch Nails guitarist.

And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead - Source Tags And Codes. Shouting men, screaming guitars, thumping bass.

God Is An Astronaut - Self Titled. Post-rock with good melodies.
