For those from the Grunge era, you might like the acclaimed: Screaming Trees - Dust, or Mudhoney - Piece of Cake
good call

prefer Superfuzz Bigmuff though
Saw them live about '95 on the My Brother the Cow tour... came back black and blue from that gig hehe

What was Green River's EP called? That was quite good back in the day...

The ultimate outdoor party album -- no bad tracks, really diverse and has something for everyone - this is how Bradley Nowell should be remembered - not the fat drunken junkie fratboy he became...

you'll either love it or hate it instantly -- it's not exactly a "grower" - it just hits you!

Best ever album cover, fantastic guitarist and singer, awesome sound - so much warmth and crackle

such a diverse album -- so many great songs, no excess fat (except for D. Boon!),

another dead musician -- Mark Sandman RIP - great album - what a mad band -- 2 string bass, sax and drums

Exile has one great track, the rest are "meh" IMO. Good call on the other two. smile,
You are of course entitled to your wrong opinion. And let's be clear: it is wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong... biggrin

Trace, if you and Pete haven't listened to them, you might want to consider -

The God Machine - Scenes from the Second Storey
Crikey - not listen to that for a long time! I remember it being very good though. Think I only have it on cassette - that's how long it's been paperbag Have to see if it's available on MP3 anywhere.

Clawfinger didn't do it for me either - 2nd rate RATM rip-off without the political angst to give it some feeling.

In a similar vein though:-
- Cubanate: Cyberia - heavy punchy 90s-era industrial metal which never made it beyond the industrial clubs - Ministry with more rhythm! Oxyacetylene is one of those songs that instantly elevates your adrenaline levels and your heart rate! biggrin
http://www.last.fm/music/Cubanate/Cyberia/Oxyacety...

Also, my 'unknown favourites':-
- Corrosion of Conformity: Deliverance - awesome stoner-metal (think QOTSA with attitude - QOTSA IIRC were inspired by CoC) which never made the mainstream. Still one of my favourite bands...
http://www.last.fm/music/Corrosion+of+Conformity/D...

- Stabbing Westward: Ungod - their first album and their best. Hints of NIN but not a copy like Filter, and I really like the way song 1 evolves into 2 and the album flows from there...very good to drive to!
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stabbing-Westward/e/B000AP...
(Try Lies or Violent Mood Swings)

- The Music: Strength in Numbers - Brit alt-pop-rock, been around for a while, never really made it, and I've no idea why.
http://www.last.fm/music/The+Music/Strength+In+Num...

- PitchShifter: Desensitised / Infotainment / www.pitchshifter.com - British punk/metal/industrial/DnB outfit whose style evolved massively over these three albums, from Godflesh-esque industrial-metal to RATM-meets-Pendulum politico-punk/DnB. I hate trying to classify these guys - just listen to 'em...really addictive music, and they were f'n awesome live! biggrin

Anyhoo, when the cheapest I can pick up a CD is nearly forty quid from Amazon, I think my conscience can take it biggrin

I was about to post something similar - except I'd picked Barbarossa from Cubanate and Wiseblood from CoC.

You are the first (other) person I've come across since Uni who knows about these guys...

(OK, I prefer "Concentration" as an album, particularly the guitar-work on "Content?", but lets not split hairs... biggrin )

Edit: Judas - splitting hairs again - they'd be my #2 albums from each band, King of the Rotten is an especially good track...

Actually, Concentration is probably the better album.

Massive shift in style for Richest Junkie is still Alive, which I wasn't a huge fan of.

I liked their song on the Crow soundtrack, so went looking for albums... had to order it specially!

I honestly can't remember how I found out about them (at uni...was probably a friend, either that or Headbangers Ball, which was how I discovered Stabbing Westward), except that I didn't realise "Golgotha Tenement Blues" was them until I got together with my g-f (now wife) and she had the soundtrack! paperbag

Just got fire.fm on while I'm typing, and they've just played Sister Machine Gun and are now on Victory Pill...
...oh and I HAVE to recommend Celldweller which I discovered thru fire.fm a couple of weeks back! Check them out...

Gravity Kills eponymous first album. It's plonked firmly in the industrial genre.
Bloody Kisses by Type O Negative (possibly not obscure enough?). Doom goth rock.
Cleansing by Prong (more metal than industrial, but sounds bloody great biggrin)
