Is anybody else really looking forward to this?

I know United States of Eurasia has been played a bit on the radio, and although I didnt like it. It did give me a bit of a buzz about where they are going with this new album, as they generally seem to be quite different on each album.

I've now heard "Uprising" which is to be the first single off the album, and I really quite like it.

Anyone else?

Oh yes

Uprising is their best single release since Hysteria. Brilliant! smile
Does remind me of a Gary Glitter song though

New album artwork here

Not really a fan of the two tracks released so far, going to be a disappointment I think from what I have seen/heard so far.

Just heard "Uprising" for the first time. Not up there with their best, but not too bad - a 5/10 from Muse is as good as a 9/10 from most other bands. They should drop the "clap & chant" bit in the middle though.

Thankfully uprising is a lot better than united states of eurasia, I was gutted when I first heard that one.
Not among the best, but I've now got the album pre ordered. The artwork looks interesting too! biggrin

I'm a huge Muse fan and have listened to the whole album a couple of times and have to admit I'm really not keen. Maybe it'll be a grower, but I'm not holding out hope frown

it would still be a good album for many bands though!

A friend of mine found a copy on a website where you can share files between friends.

I'm sure many of the songs will be excellent live, they are the only band I've seen who can turn a mediocre song into a fantastic one just by playing it live. thumbup

I've only listened to USoE so far, but it does sound as if Muse have completed their transformation into Queen for the 21st century.

Listen to the next song, it sounds less Queen.

Its only actually about 5 seconds of USoE that sounds like Queen. There is a whole 2 minutes that sounds like Chopin smile

Wow, where's the passion, the fire, the feedback, the reverb, the power? this is pretty lame to be honest. I'm a massive fan of Muse, mainly for Matts amazing guitar work, here, there is nothing

Well now some of us have BOUGHT the album what do we think.....

For me first impressions (listened to the whole album once) are that its very very good. Fits exactly into the pattern of evolution Muse have developed through their albums. I'm also a real fan of the classical influence in some/most of the tracks... adds a real depth and complexity that most bands cannot hope to achieve... bit gutted that the Exogenesis is only 13 mins .... 13 mins is quite an acceptable length for one track in my books... have to say was expecting 3 parts of about 10 mins at least... ah well.... next time hows about a full 60 minute extravaganza Mr Bellamy.. 1 CD... 1 track!

Oh, and less of the French stuff please.. Even the French realise their language is awful and have to force their radio stations to play French music.

Also anyone else notice a bloody annoying crackle (effect)... esp noticable in the exogenesis symphonies? Or have I got a duff CD/CD drive on my PC?

My sentiments entirely. And it's all so big! Very keen on the complex arrangements and huge sound. Bellamy and co. are superb. I've been looking forward to this album for ages and it's not disappointed. On a first listen, I think it's less "accessible" than Black Holes and Revelations, fewer potential singles maybe? But no worse for that.

I can see this one getting played to death for a while now. smile

Which in itself took me several listens before I started to really love it compared to Absolution which I loved from the 1st listen.

For some reason it really reminds me of Marilyn Manson's the Beautiful People. Still seems a good album on the first 3 listens, opening is very strong but not so sure about the final tracks
