Have just listened to this album (admittedly once only). Am quite a Muse fan but even I have to concede that they have finally disappeared up their own aholes and have turned into the bd lovechild of Queen and Richard Clayderman.

What were they thinking of?!?!?

So Radiohead were good, but moved on and stopped wanting to be Radiohead, so Muse came along who initially wanted to be Radiohead but then very quickly because Muse. But now they want to move on from being Muse, it seems to be what you're saying, so who is their replacement? biggrin

Well it's good enough but it isn't very memorable. Hasn't stopped me repeatedly listening to it though.

I was hoping for black holes crossed with origin of symmetry. Take the last three (one?) songs and work on that with more power and balls out singing like newborn, crossed with a little knights of cydonia.

I've got no problem with bands evolving when they feel that they've said everything they have to say in a particular style - I'm a VERY big fan of Radiohead and I think that In Rainbows stands up against anything from their early recordings.

I just feel that what Muse have done is almost become a pastiche of themselves - i.e. take just the pomp, falsettos and wailing guitars from the earlier albums, add a classical caricature with an odd bit of piano concerto, spread a set of 'concept album' track titles over the top and turn it all up to 11.

It just ends up sounding like the Darkness taking the piss out of Bellamy and the boys to me!

Having seen them live 3 times now I realise the attraction for me is Matts guitar work and how he makes every rendition of a piece unique, he is one of the most gifted guitarists out there and no one utilises effects quite as naturally as he does.
Hysteria live is pure heaven for me but The Resistance seems to be taking them down a different path, a path Mozart's Requiem has covered.......so on that basis "Ah'm oot"

I bought the album on the weekend (Tesco's have it for £8.70 if anyone is interested).

I've listened to it twice now and it's not bad. Maybe it's a grower or maybe it just isn't as good as "Black Holes and Revelations" - I'll reserve judgement for now.

Eurasia, sha, sha, sha!

Huge muse fan and this album is good, no doubt, but it's not drawing me into it... It's more just something to listen to.

Back to billy talent/innerpartysystem for now.

£5 to download this from 7digital.

I've listened to this a couple of times and I'm impressed. Personally, I don't mind bands and artists evolving their sound over time. If I want to listen to their older stuff, I'll play an older album.

I'm reserving judgement for now. Some of the songs are good but others have the sound of a band disappearing up their own backsides and actually they do sound like a Muse piss take. I'm sure it will grow but it certainly isnt as accessable as the other albums.

Anyone seen this... The Italian TV show insisted they mime so they went along with it but got their own back!

Matt on drums is really quite amusing with his 'playing to the camera'.

Dom's not so convincing on bass - but his vocal performance is flawless wink

Awesome! They do always come across as being a nice bunch of people (as well as possibly the best big-name band currently gigging).

Bought the album last night. I found it very easy to get into (perhaps due to a reasonable amount of airplay), but arguably lacking depth. It seemed to be a very short record too. On the upside, I thought the three part symphony (yes...) that could have been hugely pretentious came across quite well.

Disliked it at first but now it is growing on me.

There are slightly too many cheesy moments though - the "it could be wrong" backing vocal in Resistance is like 'Summer nights' from Grease, Eurasia is a Bohemian Rhapsody rehash, Unnatural Selection reminds me of 'Abba's Lay All Your Love On Me' and more...

For some reason it really reminds me of Marilyn Manson's the Beautiful People.
It sounds like it as its almost a straight copy!!

The new album is now residing on the shelf next the last kaiser chiefs album that is still in its wrapper. Having listened to it a bit more its...er...rubbish!! Couple of good tracks on it and the 3 piece end track is ok, the rest is just pretentious. They will still be great live but the album is a massive disappointment.
