Love the classical interludes. Most of the songs are good but a couple are a bit too 'Queen-like' though.

For some reason it really reminds me of Marilyn Manson's the Beautiful People.
It sounds like it as its almost a straight copy!!

The new album is now residing on the shelf next the last kaiser chiefs album that is still in its wrapper. Having listened to it a bit more its...er...rubbish!! Couple of good tracks on it and the 3 piece end track is ok, the rest is just pretentious. They will still be great live but the album is a massive disappointment.
I wonder if they are tied to a record deal with the label? this sounds like a filler to me

In my opinion the worst muse album so far, though a couple of good tracks are in there.
No doubt they will still be awesome live come November!

Finally got round to getting a copy of this yesterday. Can only hope its a grower cos after the first two listens I was bored. Sounds like one long rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody being played by different bands - sometimes its Radiohead, then its SOAD, then its Queen, a bit of Muse, then a bit of tinkling on the ivories, some harmonies, and repeat for 55 mins.

Nothing grabbed me - where is "Muscle Museum" or "Hysteria" or "Plug in Baby" or "Knights of Cydonia" - no hooks at all.

I'll give it a couple more spins - just in case it clicks.

I gave it 3 listens when I bought it and haven't been back to it.

When 'Black Holes & Revelations' was released I was playing it for weeks.

I got carried away when ordering this a while ago and bought the boxed set that included the CD, LP and USB stick. I just wish I'd done it on their previous album rather than this one.

I think the album is okay though, just nothing like as good as their previous albums. It's also a bit indulgent with all the piano playing interludes. If I wanted to listen to Chopin, I'd have bought Chopin.

I've listened to it again and I still think it's weaker than Black Holes & Revelations, but I do really like the track "MK Ultra".

Downloaded this at the weekend. Legally, I might add.

Several listens in, and I like it.

Sure, its no Symmetry, but its an interesting listen.

I think my only real complaint is that its a bit short. The whole Exo thing should have much longer I think.

Mk Ultra is good, but I think Unnatural Selection is very good.

And despite Uprising being hammered on the radio, Im still enjoying that track too.

Buy it and enjoy it as a seperate and new Muse album, not as Plug in baby part 2.

Thumbs up from me.

This is the key point - a guy with the talent of Matt Bellamy is never going to be happy just churning out the same stuff, a lot of the 'fans' on here need to realise this an move on - the band has !

I got this expecting to love it.

But I really can't get on with it at all. I get the feeling that Muse are so far up their collective back sides its beyond a joke.

Although no doubt that they're incredibly creative and stupendously good musicians. Definitely not for me any more though.

It's interesting that parallels have been thrown at both Muse and Radiohead going 'up one's bum'.

Muse - All the previous albums had an experienced producer on hand. You can never underestimate the influence a good producer has in controlling arrangements and curtailing self-indugence. The Resistance is self produced and it shows.

Radiohead - see above except they made sure they had far more of a controlling hand on Kid A (and further records) and that was the album where most people declared it was self indulgent, tracks were too long etc...

I didn't realise that they had produced it themselves. Interesting, and I agree that it shows.

I'm not one of the ones who complained about Radiohead. Every album they've made is a work of art as far as I'm concerned. Including Kid A.

Moved on?!! you won't find a bigger fan of Matt than me and the reason for this is his stupendous stage ability. I could imagine myself nodding off listening to him try and do anything with this material. He and the band are exemplary musicians, I see nothing exemplary here
