Listen to Dizzee Rascal - Dirtee Cash. It reminded me of World in Motion.

Anyway, dunno if you can class this as rap, but it's by Pitbull.

It's like RnB/Dance/Rap.

Pitbull - Shut it Down (ft. Akon)

I cant agree with any of Eminiem accolades given here.

I dont think his lyrics are especially good. I dont think his style is especially skillful. I think his tracks are overproduced. He portrays himself as someone who is willing and able to fk the mainstream, not caring what anyone things, yet he is as deep in the mainstream as any other entertainer. His attempt to get his homeboys on his coat tails with D12 was an embarrassment.

Granted, he had some original ideas early on but I think about the only thing he can be credited with is making white kids feel credible for liking like hip hop. Everyone can access rap now, thanks to him.

But how long can he trade on name dropping and whinging about his mum and ex g/f?
Obviously you are entitled to opinion... You are woefully wrong on the first two counts, and any one of any worth in the industry will tell you that. However as you have later said, he did succombe somewhat to the mainstream.. and that is something that cannot be debated..

He can trade on that as long as any black rapper can trade on similar things, plus guns and money, and bhes..and the same way nearly anyone else can trade on stupid love songs about people that don't exist.

One thi to think about, is that the first few albums were meant to show his sides, alter-ego's if you like, Hence the second album titled his name was vey real, yet the thrid album was addressing different issues.

I like She Watch over a lot of others simply because it samples the awesomeness that is Slayer - Angel Of Death

2pac knocks him into a cocked hat for lyrics. Any number nail him on style and skill(z). IMO.

Thats the trouble with the industry though isnt it? Theyve been fawning over him since he arrived and now cant see the wood for the trees. The industry decides whos hot and whos not. What did the industry say about Lil Wayne?

Absolutely bang on!

Hence my comment on the industry disappearing up its own arse post 1994ish.

Ego driven - the lot of it now unfortunately.

I see both of your points on this.

However he was scouted by a legend of the genre, so I think he has a litlte more credential than lil wayne.
