Actual goosebumps

AFAIK they have played nearly every Glasto and it has been bewildering me as to why they don't appear to be at this one, seemed at odds with the 40th Anniversary vibe

This would MAKE my festival

Now I just need to be in the right place at the right time

Does anyone know about the line up additions to Glasto. I saw on a friends Facebook page that Keane have been added. Is that true and are there any more? smile
Yes its true.

"Keane have announced that they will make a special guest appearance at this year’s Glastonbury festival.

The trio are set to perform an acoustic set on the Avalon Stage at Worthy Farm on the Sunday afternoon (June 27) at 4.35pm (BST)"

Jesus. It dawned on me this morning. This time next week I'll be driving to Glastonbury!

Kind of feel like I should be preparing in some way. There must be something I need - tent, sleeping bag, cash, bog roll - that's about it really? Only two years since the last festival visit, but it feels like decades. Obviously I'm getting old.

You're local, what do you reckon is the best way in?

We're planning on A303 to Sparkford and then the backroads

Barrows>Lovington>Hornbotton Green>East Pennard>West Pennard>A361>Orange Gate.

Seem fair?

I'm not bloody getting caught in the A361 Glastonbury Town fiasco again...

Not sure if this is aimed at me or not?

I am driving down on Tuesday night and staying at my mums in Yeovil

My BiL used to drive for Securicor all in that area even when the festival was on so I am going to ring him today and get some tips, I'll update the thread later with some info

Was @ Chris as I know he's local but any sage local info appreciated!

Is there anywhere that lists the closed/local only roads?

Ah ok smile

I'm a London immigrant born and raised in Yeovil originally smile

I haven't seen anything but again I'm hoping my BiL can provide some info

Between me and Chris we'll hopefully have it covered smile

Similar thing here; grew up near Axminster (went to school in Crewkerne, so I know a lot of people over the border in Somerset), but I've lived in the South East for the last six or seven years - I'm practically a Cockney now. frown

FWIW In the past I've headed down to my parents the night before and then gone up the A37 and cut across. I've only actually driven it myself once though, before that I always managed to skank a lift off someone and the first couple of years we just took the bus from Crewkerne to Yeovil bus station and then on to Glastonbury/Pilton. I remember the point we got out and decided it would be quicker to walk than go along the A361, only to discover we were still miles and miles out. I think the numbers have gone down and the traffic management has improved a lot since though.

I'm the same my accent only comes out when I have had a drink

Yeah that's my plan, leaving my mums about 6:30am, meeting a mate at Podimore Services and then up the A37 and follow the signs I guess, still not got hold of my BiL

Ok an update

I have spoken to my BiL

He said that there are loads of lanes around the site but these are routinely blocked off by security to stop access, the upshot is this

Based on leaving from Yeovil but you can adapt it I'm sure

If you want the East car parks

Head up the A37, due to the blocked roads you will end up going to Shepton Mallet and then signage will take you in from the East Side

If you want the West car parks

From Yeovil head via Street to Glastonbury town and follow the signs this will lead you in the West way

From Bristol head via Wells to Glastonbury town and follow the signs this will lead you in the West way

He has a very detailed OS Map of the area showing all the lanes and little roads etc, he is going to scan it and mail it to me, I can upload this on here if people want it

Last year, we, well I got fed up of sitting on the North end of Glastonbury town and just fked off into the wilderness and happened across West Pennard.

No restrictions up to that point, I reckon there will be if you get any closer to the site than that though.
