Black Djent has arrived!

Well no, it hasn't (not here anyway) but those in the know will surely hear the comparisons during the opening of this track. A shame it's such a low quality clip:

Dodecahedron - View From Hverfell I: Head Above the Heavens

I've not quite finished the album but it has been enjoyable all the same. It's not all like that track though, albeit on a similar 'outer plane' type level. I suppose it's fairly typical French weirdness.

Playing some Agathocles tonight for some reason. Used to have fun trying to keep up with all the 7"s these guys released.

Not for those of you who enjoy production values and tight playing, but a real cult underground band.

Not sure what box they fit it. Heard them called "Blackened Thrash", which sort of fits. I think.

That's what I'd say too. They're famous (the twins I presume) for having a massive Iron Maiden collection.

I've listened to one of each and I have to admit I like them more than the majority of stuff posted on here, maybe I'm not into as heavy stuff as I thought

As you have probably realised by now neither are the type of thing I listen to regularly but I don't mind either. The former is fairly cheesey but manages to be more listenable than something like Enter Shikari* and the latter while still fairly horrible on the face of it has enough Hardcore/Metalcore to make it palatable for me.

  • Being quite a big fan of electronic music along the lines of The Prodigy and then Metal too I should theoretically like things such as Enter Shikari and Hadouken! etc but really struggle. Perhaps they're a pastiche of the bad bits of both styles.
These sounds neither like those two bands or typical Prodigy if there is such a thing. Not really warranted inclusion in this thread but whatever I'm in a good mood.. They're still quite 'dark'.

The Prodigy - Rat Poison

The Prodigy - Scienide

Given the weather has gone decidedly grim and frostbitten today, figured I'd post some Black Metal. Posted them before, but of all the "new" old school BM bands (old school being second wave, just to confuse everyone), I think you'd have to go a long way to beat Craft :-

I can't read music so i'm screwed anyways - even if I could nail the initial pattern I'd be a happy boy (besides it took Tomas Haake 6 months to learn to play it!!...).

There is a tab of it on Drummerworld.com just so's you know.
This is worth a look if you want to learn it. There's a vid where he explains the pattern very well also.

Just found this following a bit of Darkthrone surfing...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThlDQuRXR08&fea...

Spin forward to 1:35 for the song. Not to be taken overly seriously, but I love the raw, almost punk edge to this.

Is a shame Darkthrone don't play live, especially on that showing. Even if it was once in a blue funeral moon, that footage shows it would be an absolute blast if it was kept low key. Also pretty cool to see those guys up on stage out of character, so to speak. That said, Satyr doesn't do much does he! Makes Adrian Smith look animated.

Agree with what you say. I think you could probably say Satyr IS out of character, usually quite outspoken and trying to be a 'cool dude' and with Satyricon live he is quite animated (in a showman type way) whereas there I think he is happy in the shadow of one of his mentors..

Keeping a Darkthrone gig low key may prove difficult!
