Keeping a Darkthrone gig low key may prove difficult!
You'd probably have to make it more of a "Fenriz and Nocturno Culto on the same stage" type thing rather than specifically a Darkthrone gig, but it would be cool to see. I like how a lot of the guys from that period (92-3) have now grown up and are just doing what they want to do, rather than carrying on with the whole silly "none more kvlt" nonsense. I love the last few Darkthrone releases for that reason. Ted actually looks like a pretty decent frontman, in a relaxed sort of way, and I think a few shows with him and Fenriz banging out whatever they feel like playing would be fantastic.

A few Black Metal clips that somehow all ended up being bands beginning with 'B'...

Behexen
Beherit
Blasphemy
Bestial Warlust
Baxaxaxa
Barathrum

This post is NOT a Children's Television Workshop production

Going to the other end of the alphabet, I'll be seeing these in a couple of months. There won't be much love here but these have been one of the biggest bands in the 'underground' the last couple of years:

Urfaust - Ein Leeres Zauberspiel

Not heard of them before, but pretty interesting take on things. Reminds me a little of of some of Fenriz's Isengard stuff in places, although it has a much cleaner sound. May well have to investigate further, as that's most definitely my Black Metal cup o' necro tea smile

Right, enough Black Metal for now, let's have Destruction covering Motorhead.

Not quite as fierce as Sodom's take on Ace of Spades, but still pretty decent.

I only ever got about two songs into Hostmorke before I had to turn it off, because of the vocals ,that was 10+ years ago though. I can just about tolerate the Urfaust vocals but it took a while to acclimatise, the music is first class though.

Today I've been mostly listening to Killing Joke (well, I am going to see them on Saturday biggrin ).

In particular, this brought a smile to the journey home, esp. given the day I had at work...

"Enjoy" probably not the right word...perhaps "appreciate"?

And back on the Black Metal with Mortuary Drape. Italian band, but has a very Greek / South American feel to it. Feels like Mystifier and Necromantia rather than the usual Norwegian sound. Like it a lot.

Another relic from twenty (fark! I'm old!) years ago.

Dark Angel - The New Priesthood

The lyrics of this one floored me at the time.

Not quite "Scream for me Long Beach Arena!" is it laugh I still listen to "Ooh Crikey!" all these years later and it still makes me chuckle every time. Brilliantly silly record.

I note they're playing a Christmas show (Dec 15th) at The Garage in Islington. Given their recent antics (crowd surfing races, acoustic ukelele interludes, snails of metal and on-stage Satanic trampolining) I have a feeling that could approach epic levels of silliness, so I really ought to sort out a ticket. Would mark 20 years since I last saw them!

4arm - Submission for Liberty

This is actually alright. Vocals (and the rest) are a bit Hetfield-esque but I can't really complain. I've listened to the album this track comes from and for what it is, quite enjoyable.

Ooo like that, never heard of them before. As you say, very Hetfield which I like.
