4arm - Submission for Liberty

This is actually alright. Vocals (and the rest) are a bit Hetfield-esque but I can't really complain. I've listened to the album this track comes from and for what it is, quite enjoyable.
Liking that! Proper thrash. Vocals very Hetfield/Araya-ish, like a slightly angrier Matt Drake maybe, but without going over old arguments, at least he's using his voice and not just using that generic scream/growl sound everyone goes for these days. Not doing that stupid "Metalcore aerobics" bouncing around thing either, which is a bonus.

I really like this - perhaps a bit generic but it's very cool and the production is awesome. 3.25 onwards rocks.... smile

I'm going to have to post something that I expect will be less popular now..

I am enjoying this, the vocals probably need a bit of work (a bit too Deathcore) but the music seems a mixture of Doom, Djent and Sludge.

WombWrecker - Death Curse

WombWrecker - Chopper Gunner

There's similarities but I'd say WombWrecker were more atmospheric and bit more normal than Mortician. I have only heard the Chainsaw Dismemberment album a good few years back, and the WombWrecker release once, today.

Just had a catch up on this thread, the 4arm stuff made me grin, nice thrashy stuff. As for the Wombwrecker stuff it reminds me far more of The Acacia Strain rather than Mortician, observe:

I've managed to avoid the whole deathcore area entirely, so had no real basis for comparison. Mortician was just the first thing I thought when I heard the intro and guitar tone. On a slight tangent, seeing the name "Wombwrecker" made me remember the old underground death metal band Wombbath, who had some great stuff back in the day when this was all fields and you could leave your front door open smile

Original copies of Wombbath's 'Internal Caustic..' make good money if you have one. Fortunately it was re-issued a year or so back.

Alas only had it via tape trading. Got a few old Sentenced LPs mind you, and did have the Merciless CD on Deathlike Silence at one point. Imagine that's rather sought after these days, as I think it was the first ever DSP release?

First Merciless goes for about £50 (similar to Wombbath), it is sought after but doesn't get the hype that early Burzum on DSP does for example - which will touch 10 times as much if its guaranteed not to be a bootleg (of which there are some quite good ones around).

Oh yes, i'm partial to a bit of Nembrionic. Must get out my Consolation CD's to - didn't both bands share members or something?

Well, been spinning the new Meshuggah for the last 24 hours. As Obzen, it hasn't immediately clicked but hopefully like Obzen, I'll grow to love it. Definitely sounding good though. This is the standout for me so far:

I have vague memories of them sharing a split CD, possibly on Displeased Records, so it's entirely possible.

Yes, i have that very CD - contains Tempter and Beautifilth, the latter IMHO is very good indeed. It contains an excellent instrumental

Posted a few tracks previously, but loving Behexen at the moment.

Also been giving Craft's "Terror Propaganda" another spin, as it sort of fell down the cracks for me before.

Must be said, I think that track is all the more atmospheric for not having vocals. The second half especially makes my spine tingle.

Given this a few spins now on the proper stereo rather than just in the car. Awesome.

That sounds awesome - distinctly Meshuggah but a real groove to the riff - album will be purchased this weekend! smile
