Here's another that Tuscaneer won't like.

Like a pissed off Cult of Luna and something new to me today; which is nice.

Adrift - Fury Roof

Sludge+Hardcore I guess, good album.

Oh, and I'm sure Tesseract were mentioned on Radio 2 this afternoon..

Has a marvellous sense of unhinged, frenetic urgency to it.

bought this direct off the boys signed by all of them for the same price as an unsigned one.might as well hey??
Liking that as well buddy. I've tried to get into Tesseract before but as I think I've already said, I struggle with that proggy/djent stuff a bit. I love the the technical side of it, and enjoy it a bit but I just can't listen too long. I don't think I've heard the Elliot Coleman stuff though before. Cracking voice.

Having hammered Fair To Midland's "Fables from a Mayfly - What I Tell You Three Times Is True" over the past few days, my copies of their later album Arrows & Anchors has arrived. As has Dead Letter Circus's debut album "This is the Warning".

I'm still working through my first listen to the latter, but so far it's an astounding work. The energy it has is incredible. Here's one I think you might like - it builds. Monumentally.

The MIGHTY Craw

Andddd...

Seeing as we now seem to be touching on the slightly light/melodic side of things, bordering on heavy rock (ie Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus etc)...

This is a very long stoner tune but it's great.

Just listened to the new A Forest of Stars album, another good one although the vocals can get a bit annoying. Nice instrumentation, reminiscent of Agalloch, MDB, Drudkh, Katatonia at times. Keep on managing to miss them live unfortunately.

This might be the most easy listening track for this thread (more or less an instrumental), one of my favourites from the album.

Had Witchsorrow on heavy rotation of late, especially Den of Serpents

Not sure if I've posted them already, but fans of Sleep will probably appreciate Belzebong

Had this on whilst watching the Viking documentary on BBC2 tonight, very fitting. I think I might be listening to Enslaved, Amon Amarth and Immortal for the next week or so until the next episode is on!

The folk stuff can get a bit too power metalesque for me sometimes, but thought that was excellent. Back on the (new) old school DM tonight with assorted Miasmal. Like being back in 1991 smile

I know what you mean about the folk stuff, I take it you've heard Windir? (meaning they do some good folk stuff, not that they sound like power metal!)

I know of Windir, yep, although never properly listened to them. There's a tonne of bands out there I need to investigate! I'm on a new wave of old school death metal vibe at the moment though smile
