Discussion
New Safety Fire album is pretty massive. Starts out kind of similar to the last one but then just builds and builds into something much heavier (with a few exceptions - they love their "musical sorbets"). Highlights so far are "Beware the Leopard" (featuring Tommy Giles Rogers Jr from BTBAM) and "The Ghosts That Wait for Spring"

Just heard this and will be checking these guys out in greater detail

It's a bit Protest-y, but that's no bad thing.

I've still not bothered with the new Carcass album, I'm expecting too much of a polished sound (I did hear Captive Bolt Pistol).RoB are definitely worth a listen yes, I was hoping to see them at the end of October (with MGLA) but plans have changed, and I'm still seeing MGLA but later in the year.
Enjoyed hearing this for the first time today, some nice leads:
Bolzer - Coronal Mass Ejaculation
Along with this, which I decided to gamble with despite usually waiting for the full album but for things I with high expectations. Doesn't sound like they've moved on much but enough to keep me interested. Must stop playing it:
Inquisition - Darkness Flows to Unseen Kingdoms
And this.. Good album as a whole, although bit of Emperor seems to come in around 4.40 on this track:
Christicide - Solitude with the Devil
I'll admit I was unsure about the new Carcass, as I was always a Symphonies/Necroticism man over Heartwork, but new one has it about right. It is polished, but not in that "look at how melodic a melodic death metal band we are!" type way. Nothing feels over done to my ears. Everything is where it needs to be. New Exhumed is great if you're after a cracking older school sound.
Tusaneer's influence is spreading! Discovered these recently that I'm taken with:
Circles - Clouds are Gathering

First Signs of Frost (yet another act Dan Tompkins has flirted with) - this is a cover of Jose Gonzalez's Crosses
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAnwIz5QXH4
Love that cover - it may help that I love the Gonzalez album to being with but that is just a perfect interpretation in my view.
I would say that I don't think that everything Dan Tompins touches turns to gold - he and Dan Weller worked on the In Colour venture and it does nothing for me - sounds like regular bland Radio 1 safe light rock. :?

Been enjoying the vocal free version of this recently :-

First got into them through their instrumental stuff, so not sold on the addition of vocals, as I don't think they really add anything. Others differ. Thankfully the band stay out of the argument and offer both on their Bandcamp page, so everyone wins

Currently needing a fix of thrash metal.
Found a couple tonight that I thought I'd share.
Warbringer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJqFe36gSgw
Violator - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmU3e84nVC0 - nice bit of Brazilian thrash. Seems the scene is alive and well. Not sure about the vocals but it's all there. Nice & tight, good riffs.

Violator are great.
How about some thrashing puppets? How many classic thrash references can you spot in this video?

and some Evil Scarecrow, currently my band of the moment

Not wild about their visuals or stagecraft, but an interesting approach to the music.CommanderJameson said:

I take it you've seen them? They're essentially a parody band but they play well and really get the crowd going. Seeing a 3000+ crowd all crab dancing at Bloodstock was quite something. There are too many serious bands around, it's good to see one having a laugh.Evil Scarecrow get my vote simply for their Thundercats cover, but then I was always a sucker for Acid Reign / Lawnmower Deth daftness way back when
Slightly more seriously...
Gospel of the Horns
Nocturnal Graves
Toxic Holocaust
Absolutely love Toxic Holocaust. Sure, it's one dimensional proto-thrash that's permanently stuck in 1985, but it's bloody glorious to my ears. Doesn't feel remotely forced, which is where too much of the new wave of old school stuff falls down.
