Yeah, Thundercats makes a good cover. Totally agree on the less serious side of thrash.

Toxic Holocaust are good. Mad Maze, Game Over, Dr. Living Dead, Lich King, Bludvera, Razormaze - all good, honest thrash, nothing special or groundbreaking, just good thrash.

The thing I love about Toxic Holocaust (beside to rubbish artwork and point logo) is how honest it sounds. You do genuinely get the feeling Joel Grind was simply born too late. Take it you've heard the Yellowgoat Sessions? Sure some will frown on it for not using jazz fusion phrasing, sweeps all over the place and weird off kilter timings, but personally I love it. Pure, raw and honest, which is refreshing to hear in an age where everything seems to be written for theorists to dissect rather than for fans to actually listen to.

Managed to find a copy of 'Slammer - The Work of Idle Hands' this week.
This Bradford band brought out this excellent debut album out in 1989. Sadly disappeared after the 'difficult' 2nd album.

I'd put it in my top 10 albums.

Not wild about their visuals or stagecraft, but an interesting approach to the music.
Didn't realize they were a big/well known band, my band is supporting them in a tiny venue in Bristol and just thought they were another metal band from the West or something.

Doing pretty well for themselves, have earned a main stage bloodstock slot due to the response they get from the crowd

So bits of Downset are back then wink

I remember seeing these many years ago at Junction 7 in Nottingham, for one reason or another they didn't start until nearly 11pm but were truly awesome!

Ah memories! I saw Downset at the Garage in London when they were first on the scene. Got my Corrosion of Conformity t-shirt ripped off in the mosh pit. They were supporting someone but I forget who... will have to try to remember.

After the gig Rey was handing out Downset badges by the exit door. Still got my badge!

And I've got Slammer - The Work of Idle Hands on 12" somewhere, but sadly don't have a record player any more.

they were fking great weren't they?? I caught them twice. first time was Liverpool with biohazard I think and the second time was with sugar ray(remember them???!!) I think the highbury garage show you are remembering was the latter tour with sugar ray..

speaking of highbury garage.....me and the rest of the band were such unashamed fans of shelter ( message of the bhaggovat era- not the ste that came later) that we got a train down from Liverpool to catch their one and only uk show on that tour....fking belter!!!!

Slammer were great. They're the only band I've never managed to see live.

In a similar vein, have you seen Re-Animator and D.A.M have reformed?. They're well worth a listen to if you've not heard them before. D.A.M have just reissued their 2 albums.

Scarecrow are ace and a really sweet bunch of people, been out drinking with them a few times. If you've not seen them you're in for a treat, they really can work a crowd.

What band are you in?

My claim to fame is I supported Re-Animator a few times and have a mention on their Deny Reality album.
I saw they had reformed a few weeks ago.

A bit like Sabbath meets Motorhead, or, what Venom should have sounded like.

That's cool, I'm looking forward to the gig a bit more now I know a bit more about them and have checked them out.

I'm in a Bristol based band called Endeavour, not very big in the slightest hence why I was surprised that Evil Scarecrow were a well known band.

First stream from the new The Wounded Kings album. Really looking forward to this, as In the Chapel of the Black Hand was right up there amongst the best doom records in many a year.

So much fantastic doom the UK at the moment. Clearly something dark and brooding in the water smile

Been in the Czech Black Metal corner of Bandcamp and YouTube tonight.

Cult of Fire
Panychida

Can't really talk about Czech metal with also mentioning Root. Them and Master's Hammer were always the "weird" bands back when I was first getting into all things kvlt and necro smile

Also found Herne. Raw as hell, but very effective with it.

definately not interesting info for most of you guys in this thread but good news for me!!!

korn have reunited with brian welch on guitar so the two original guitarists are back together for the first time in nearly ten years.....the resulting album is back to the band's best form from the mid nineties that resulted in their first and second albums.
