New Maiden double studio album announced for Sep 4th. Music is such a commodity these days, but I still can't help but get excited when Maiden release a new one. Takes me back to being 12 and rushing to the local record shop to buy Somewhere in Time smile

How about Alter Bridge?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eYHvrgPqQ0

Miles Kennedy has one of the most amazing voices and great band. He also sings with Slash, Mark Tremonti is the awesome lead guitarist from Alter Bridge who also has a couple of albums out in his own name, this one is from his new album:

Or Times Of Grace, Killswitch Engage's lead guitarist/producer and main talent set up a side band which is fairly chilled:

Then theres Theory Of A Deadman...the list could go one and one!

Can't say I'm convinced by that, but the metalcore sound has always felt rather lifeless to me, which probably hasn't helped.

I'm not a fan of metalcore, but KSE have a great sound. Amazing live show as well.

To be honest, what I love about them, especially the Acid Reign and Lawnmower Deth ones, is they have a sense of fun that long since seems to have vanished from metal. Everything these days seems to be analysed and quantified to the nth degree and it just feels horribly sterile, as though people are just pushing a laptop button marked "modern metal sound" and churning out yet another album that sounds like Trivium. That KSE cover is a great example. I'm sure it's better played and better produced than the original, but remove the video and it could be anyone. Everything has been nipped and tucked to remove the imperfections and it's just drained the character out of it completely.
