I didn't know CoF had a new album out. I was into them for about 12 months in school. Nymphetamine album era then. Although I did go back and buy midian too.

I'll check this new one out.

If you liked Midian and Nymphetamine then you'll probably enjoy this one unless you've gone off metal. Nymphetamine was a decent album, I've give it a B, Midian was AAA, as were Dusk and Her Embrace and Cruelty and the Beast. Midian was a bit different to those, the songs were shorter and more direct and had a bit of a different feel. If you're only familiar with Midian onwards the pre-Midian albums might sound a bit raw, but if I was recommending CoF albums to a band who'd never heard them, I'd start them with Midian and then suggest they try Cruelty and the Beast and see if they can get into it.

Cruelty and the Beast is their best work imo, it's just incredible.

Ah Cradle of Filth. Was it Bloodstock 2009 when they had the cut the show short because the guitarist took a gobstopper to the noggin? Just shows that some metalheads can be right s. I don't mind them, but I wasn't fussed about seeing them. As soon as Blind Guardian finished I buggered off for beers at the camp site.

Haven't listened to CoF for years and years. Had their demos and the first few CDs, but after that my tastes and their output just sort of diverged. May have to give the new one a listen, if only out of curiosity.

Lol, yeah, the everlasting gig-stopper Pretty stty thing to do and IIRC, it hit him on the side and cracked a rib. There's plenty of other distractions if you don't like a band.

Apparently he took it to the spine, fired from a slingshot. Pretty stty from whoever was shooting them, spoiled it for every one else. There are plenty of bands I don't care for, but it's hard to think how much of a knob you'd have to be to do something like that.

I've been listening to "Dusk and her Embrace" this evening, what an absolute belter of an album.

I'm very, very envious, I just couldn't make it work for me based on the location and other duties

On a similar note one of my current constant play bands is doing some UK dates that I also can't get to - can I promote them here so they sell out and then come back for more? £5 a bloomin' ticket but many miles away and around the same time as my wife's birthday, she doesn't share my passion.

I met this bunch of lads from Brighton, the drummer is a friend of a friend and I think they are amazing.

The album they've put together is all self produced & its 1 of the best albums I've heard in a while, constantly on repeat in the car.

They got signed to a label and then the singer left so at the moment their in limbo

Sounds good, shame about the singer as he has a great voice - will grab the album and listen some more.

Yeah I was there that year, my mates and I had already gone back to the campsite after the first couple of their songs.

Edited to add a slight plug that I'll be playing with Endeavour this year on the Jager stage on Sunday!

I'm glad I bought tickets. At the time it was just for Coheed but I've checked out a few of the bands and it reawakened my love of proggy tech stuff. Dug out my protest the hero and between the buried and me albums. Also got me into Monuments who are an excellent band.

Gorod's "Leading Vision" is one of the all time great metal albums imo. It's absolutely amazing.

Listening to "A Perfect Absolution" currently. Don't generally get on with tech death on the whole, as far too often the "tech" completely dominates the "death" (e.g. Archspire), but Gorod has enough other stuff going on that I don't get twiddle fatigue. Has a nice flow to it rather than feeling like a bunch of clever but random passages that have been bundled together. There are songs!

Cheers man! I'll not tell the guitarist you compared it to In Flames! Drum tracking to be done in September once I've moved house. We're still looking for a vocalist but we'll punt out an instrumental EP if necessary.
