Liking the Tesseract so far. Tremendous production.
The vocals in Periphery give me the boak!
oh mate, that tesseract album seems to just seep deeper and deeper into my core. a few of these djent bands have managed to distance themselves from the sound and pack of sound-a-like bands enough to make them a true entity all on their own.The vocals in Periphery give me the boak!
it's like when deftones turned up then there was a wash of bands in that ilk.....so they morphed into what they are today...which i don't even know what it is! but it's still deftones and deftones alone.
i think the djent bands from the start who have transcended the genre are definately tesseract and skyharbor.. periphery are trying but as yet i really don't think they have found their perfect sound. don't get me wrong i loved the last album juggernaut but it somehow still sounds like a band who haven't quite found themselves yet.
i'll probably get burned at the stake for this but........ after liking bring me the horizon's last album i thought i'd get this new one. more commercial still than sempiternal but a very accomplished, polished piece of work. very simply constructed songs but that is their strength i feel. quite minimalistic but still doesn't fail to keeep my attention. i am not saying it's a masterpiece but it's solid enough.
i can't believe how good the new maiden album is! wipes the floor with the final frontier which imo was a step backwards from a matter of life and death.
Going to Paradise Lost at Koko on Sunday night! On the strength of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55XlIPzY5q0 alone it should be a cracker. Loving the new album though as well. Mrs Dead and I are going to relive our misspent youth!
last time i saw paradise lost was at liverpool royal court in ,i think, 1993!!!
it was a couple of months after the first uk tour of a little known new band called "rage against the machine" played there as well......i was outside and de la rocha was just milling about talking to us kids outside. proper chilled out dude. a few hours later they absolutely wrecked the place!!! fantastic.

It's a remaster of a previous release, but recent Mare Cognitum is really rather good.

Also love the new artwork. Feels like an abstract take on Beherit's "Drawing Down the Moon" and really fits the music.

First Acid Reign show since 1991 :-

Clearly having a lot of fun, and nice to hear those songs again.

Have you heard Klone?

I've just realised that Adrenaline hit 20years old on the 29th September
It's hard to pick a favourite from that album, but I think Root just about nicks it - it's the dark an unrelenting energy:

RE: BMTH new album, I'm loving it. As said another departure from their old sound, but seriously cool.
RE: Djent. Do yourself a favour guys and check out Monuments. I saw them live this year and it was one of the best gigs I've been to. They are going to be recording their 3rd album soon and I can't wait.
There's a clip of new SikTh floating around too...

Dropping this Friday compromising of Lee Dorrian of Cathedral and ex-Electric Wizard members Mark Greening and Tim Bagshaw, can say I'm reallY looking forward to this and expect it to be a deliberate two fingers up to Jus and the rest of the Electric Wizard group after the resent mess!

Always loved Greening's drumming and that "forever about to collapse in on itself" feel he manages to get, as it just adds so much space and menace. Shall be snapping that up in a heartbeat.
Not massively heavy but great riffs, technicality and 3 part harmonies.

In case people haven't heard of Alter Bridge, take a listen to Blackbird - my favourite band and their guitarist Mark Tremonti is amazing.
Another smaller band I love is Trapt - very awesome band.
so......another one of those moments where you find an incredible band you'd never heard of before.....

Picked this up on the strength of a review on Angry Metal Guy.
Stellar Master Elite
Some really nice Black Metal atmosphere in there, but as part of a much wider and more interesting package. Hints of something like old Arcturus maybe? Not hugely familiar with that style of Black Metal, or indeed Thorns, from whom they take their name, so need to investigate further.
