Picked this up on the strength of a review on Angry Metal Guy.

Stellar Master Elite

Some really nice Black Metal atmosphere in there, but as part of a much wider and more interesting package. Hints of something like old Arcturus maybe? Not hugely familiar with that style of Black Metal, or indeed Thorns, from whom they take their name, so need to investigate further.
You could get their debut album on CD and a t-shirt for 5 euros plus postage a few weeks ago, which I took them up on. Maybe still can.

They do have some Thorns moments, although would put the Thorns album quite far in front. Saw Arcturus on Saturday (amongst others), they unfortunately only played one track from their respective debut.

One of our guitarists has finally finished a song we've been jamming for ages. Drum wise this one will be pretty tricky.

Interesting examination of Slugdge's lyrics and underlying narrative :-

This popped up on Bandcamp and I have no idea what to make of it. I should hate it, but...

So Daniel P Carter just played the new SikTh record on his show on Radio 1. "Philistine Philosophies". It's suitably mental if you know SikTh at all.

You can get the player open and go back (it's still on air for the next 8 minutes). I think it is about 1 hour in to the show. It's absolutely awesome so check it out.

Vocals in the verses reminded me of the 'Disturbed' singer.

The more I listen, the more I love it. It's undeniably SiKth, but having moved the game on significantly. They appear to have evolved, without becoming overindulgent.

They always said they wouldn't return unless they felt they had worthwhile new material to write - if this is a sign of what the mini-album Opacities will be like, then the 9 year hiatus was more than worth it.

Maybe not a heavy enough festival for some on here, but Download festival headliners and now some of the under card have been announced:

Friday...........Saturday............Sunday
Rammstein....Black Sabbath.....Iron Maiden
KoRn............Deftones............Nightwish
Motorhead.....Megadeath..........Deftones

Really pleased with the lineup so far, only really Nightwish I've not listened to much but hear they do put on a good show. Rammstein were excellent in 2013 and Maiden flying the spitfire over the stage was superb. Anyone else planning on going?

As much as I wish it weren't the case, on recent evidence, can anyone see Lemmy being up to playing Download next year? Seems a shame to keep wheeling him out when there are doubtless other bands who could use the promotion. I do wonder how sustainable the big headline driven events are in the long run, given how fractured and diversified metal has become.

I've seen Motorhead more times than I can remember but won't see them again. They are simply going through the motions.
