I must admit I had concerns about seeing Sabbath 2 years ago but Ozzy was in fine voice and Iommi, plays fantastically well (Geezer Butler has a painting in the loft so no worries there!). I have not heard anything to suggest that they are in any worse shape now.

Lemmy on the other hand, got to wonder about his health........

For me this download line up is fantastic but I really don't do festivals, way too many people and I don't do camping!

I'm not sure if it's heavy enough for this thread, but it is for me and I find it very good. Nice to see Rabea getting the solo duties on it as well.

You need to upgrade certain things to make camping more bearable, for instance a tent large enough to have separate rooms(one per person even if it's designated for three people in each room) and a big enough communal area that allows you to stand up fully inside the tent. I wouldn't even think about going to a festival with a tent I couldn't stand up in. As for too many people, there are certain places within the crowd where there is plenty of room, the back of the front section just in front of the sound stage at either side of the central barrier usually has plenty of space where you can easily sit down between bands and is close enough to get a good view.

Maybe not a heavy enough festival for some on here, but Download festival headliners and now some of the under card have been announced:

Friday...........Saturday............Sunday
Rammstein....Black Sabbath.....Iron Maiden
KoRn............Deftones............Nightwish
Motorhead.....Megadeath..........Deftones

Really pleased with the lineup so far, only really Nightwish I've not listened to much but hear they do put on a good show. Rammstein were excellent in 2013 and Maiden flying the spitfire over the stage was superb. Anyone else planning on going?

I do hope Maiden are going to do more UK shows. I understand the whole economies of scale and publicity having their own plane brings, but it would be nice to see them at [i]their[/] gig, rather than in a field with a stack of other bands I'm less than interested in. Possibly a touch selfish, but I worry they're not going to do many more big tours after this cycle has finished. Given their alternating "best of" tour has now done SIT and SSOASS, I'm not convinced they'll do another, as let's face it, a handful of songs aside, a show based on NPFTD and FOTD is less likely to be a crowd puller than previous efforts.

On a more positive note, off to see Evil Scarecrow next week, which I've been meaning to do for an age. Promises to be very silly indeed.

right i've gone and done it.........getting more use lately out of my boss home studio, but listening more and more to 8 and even 9 string music. my gibson les paul is outstanding and has been( and i suspect always will be) my favourite guitar since purchase 20 years ago.

.....but it hasn't got the low register!.....i tune as low as i can with bloody thick jazz strings on but realistically you can't get lower than B without it falling apart......

so i've jumped in feet first and bought a left handed ESP 8 string. i couldn't test drive one as there are literally none in stock anywhere so i thought fk it.....let's have it!

can't wait to start feeling it out and seeing how big a noise i can make with it

i'll have to have a little listen to that when i get home!

can't wait to start getting to grips with that 8 string. what finally pushed me over the edge was an acoustic fingerpicking piece i've put together over the last few months, i wanted to transpose it to heavy but the passage was too high a register to sound big so i rounded the riff out and played it down around open 2nd and 4th frets on the low C....anyway, it sounds fking ace and the chorus chords are very wide.(sort of deftones-ey) ....

so the riff flips between high and low and i was thinking it would be cool if the low riff could become the middle riff and i could really round it out at the very bottom of the sonic register.....next thing you know i've bought a bloody 8 string!!

i'll have to get involved with that soundcloud jobbie and start chucking stuff for you all to laugh and poke fun at!

Got talking to a metal band in a pub in Liverpool the other night. A very nice bunch of people and utterly hilarious/bonkers hehe
Had a look at some of their stuff on youtube - seems good, if right on the limit of heaviness for my personal taste.

They are called Novacrow, and claim to do "Sleazy Hard Rock"

Had a hugely enjoyable time seeing Evil Scarecrow in MK on Friday night. Much robot dancing and crab scuttling was had. Was originally just meant to be their gig, but the venue got offered Kvelertak, so they ended up headlining with ES as support. Hadn't heard Kvelertak before, so stuck around for a bit. Hugely energetic "Black 'n Roll" sort of mix, but did rather all blur together, so was left a little underwhelmed after a while.

More new SikTh today for pledgers - Behind the Doors, in advance of next week's release.

It's heavier and much darker than Philistine Philosophies - much less relenting. Just on my 3rd listen and frankly it's fapping awesome!

Really looking forward to this release so much now smile

They were quite chuffed to get that slot smile

I'm drum teching their last few shows, Huddersfield last night, Manchester tomorrow & Sheffield on Sunday. I'm being put through my paces in preparation for their Nottingham Rock City show in January as I'll be main drum tech doing a full set-up, sound check and tear down on my own. I'm also Crabulon's handler when required wink
