Toto. Must be getting old...
biglaugh Don't worry I caught myself singing along to Spandau Ballet the other day!
Also love Gaudete by Steeleye Span. I'm not in this band any longer so it's not a shameless plug, but I played drums in a doom band called Agent of the Morai (www.myspace.com/theagentofthemorai). We played with the likes of Sourvein, Ramesses, Baroness, Weedeater, etc. Might be of some interest to those fans of Electric Wizard et al.

I remember the first time I heard that, it was on 'Raw Power' in the middle of the night. Cool song. That show introduced me to quite a few bands - I was only 10/11 at the time.

Bit of Fudge Tunnel smile

Not really noise, not really metal and managed to fall between the cracks somewhat.

I loved their cover of Sunshine of Your Love as well :-

Then through Pantera and Phil in particular I got turned onto the sludgecore scene and through listening to Down I got into Acid Bath, Crowbar, Eyehategod and Corrosion Of Conformity.
What about the likes of Sourvein and Weedeater?

Final edit!

Also really getting into Torche of late. Ought to be too poppy for me, but has a satisfying heaviness at the same time. Sort out like Weezer playing Dinosaur Jr or something.

Fudgetunnel are awesome, Creep Diets made me feel sick (in a good way, I think).

My old band supported Sourvein and Ramesses in Brighton a couple of years ago. Sourvein were top blokes, I think the lead singer T-Roy spent the whole European tour permanently wasted!!

A bit different but we also played with these guys who are absolutely jaw-dropping live:

Not all new songs here, but hopefully new to some readers.

A couple more Black Metal related tracks:

Oranssi Pazuzu - Korppi

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqK6s93wqRU

Oranssi Pazuzu - Kerettilainen Vuohi

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_duizu-b7c

Old School:

Devil Lee Rot - Metal Whiplash

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McuZkBLIgCo

Definitely not old school:

Aborym - Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDKHAV10V9s

One for fans of Individual Thought Patterns/Symbolic:

Obscura - Incarnated

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzjKMYsiGyk

This probably sounds quite amatear nowadays but when released it was quite different.

Arcturus - To Thou Who Dwellest in the Night

Valborg - Epic Journey

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-CSgJDNu9A

Circle of Ouroborus - Through My Fingers

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vAhLV7Ib-4 (mainly the last few mins with the 'brass')

Yoga - Seventh Mind

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fS4j6yQk6g

Lastly a more normal song, one that I've played the most the last 6 months or so:

Absu - Amy

Ticks oh so many boxes for me. Pointy logo, Nuclear Assault cover art and even a hint of John Connelly about the vocals. Great fun.
fking hell i thoght that was connelly for a minute.it`s like slayer and nuclear assault have joined forces.takes me back to when i was at school.i got "survive" and learned every note of every song on the guitar over the course of about 4 days!everything was still tuned up at standard e tunings then.in fact ,fk it, i`m going to dig my old vinyl out now,get my les paul out and tune it all the way back up from c to e and thrash out

i remember when i first heard annihilator on raw power.alice in hell.my god i was hooked.i always admired how jeff waters could absolutely shred till the cows come home without sounding like twiddle just for the sake of it(like hanneman and king out of slayer).
flicking through the old vinyl i think the golden age of thrash was definately 86-90 and after that it sort of just got overtaken.it`s great fun going back through some old stuff now though!
it makes me feel old looking on the back of survive by nuclear assault and seeing 1988!!i remember buying it when it first came out!you KNOW you are old when you look around your workplace and realise there are lads in your employ that aren`t as old as some of the records in your collection
