Anytime heading along to damnation? I go along every year as it's an excuse to meet up with friends I don't see often, but I have to say this years line up is pretty amazing for me.

Bossk, sigh, Tuskar, the infernal sea on the first night for me,

Amenra, anaal nathraak, sigh and Julia Christmas the 2nd night.
How was the festival? The location puts me off slightly but partly because I'm not really familiar with Manchester and that particular area. I know Leeds was always a bit torturous when moving between stages do I'm assuming positives outweigh the negatives?

I had a great weekend, I'll be honest that I enjoyed the Friday more than the Saturday.

Sigh were superb, really enjoyed viking skull who brought the party, bossk really brought along the atmosphere. Anaal Nathrakh were so incredibly brutal live, so tight and great banter.

The festival definitely upped it's game this year from last year addressing the main complaints. The sound was good on the main stage and the 2nd stage. The bands I watched on the 3rd stage is better than most festivals but not quite as clear but could have been the bands as I only watched a couple on it. Moving between stages much easier and no one you couldn't get into (I missed a lot of bands at Leeds just not being able to get in the room). I miss the tiny little rooms but the pay off of not having to fight my way in, especially with a member of our party who has access problems, makes BEC much better. All 3 stages have full screens for production too which is nice.

The actual location doesn't make too much difference for me when driving down from Glasgow anyway, we stayed in a holiday Inn a 5 minute taxi ride or 15 minutes walk away.

I liked that AMOLAD tour, biggrin

I live in Aberdeen so I get the thing about taking opportunities to see bands that don't come around often..... I'm usually down your neck of the woods to get my fix! Costly and often requires annual leave, but worth it - I think! irked

Next up, Green Lung!
My mate is a massive maiden fan and light ved that tour but I'm a casual to his horror.

I'll be at that Green Lung gig, really looking forward to it. It does suck having to use the holidays for gigs, but I seem to make all my holidays gigs.

Just back from Berlin so that the wife could see Carpenter Brut & Perturbator, not my normal thing but really enjoyable and surprisingly heavy for a synthwave gig.

Thanks for the review. The location doesn't put me off as such, with Leeds being an hour or so drive away (seeing The Prodigy there on Saturday) with Manchester being more like two hours. I just liked the familiarity of Leeds and being able to walk into 'town' quite easily. I'm sure the BEC is fine really.

I'll have to see what the 2024 line-up brings. While I try to stay in the loop with newer bands who may end up playing, time available to discover and listen to them seems ever decreasing.

Just seen that.

If they insist on all-seater gigs like they did last time, I'm out (again).

Edit: Yep, all seated. At a metal gig. What the actual fk?!? More taking the p out of fans by Maynard?

Once again I'm at risk of being ejected from the thread! eek

  1. 4 song is weird - don't recall listening to it that much. Other 4 make sense. Bands I can't argue with.

Is this true? When I tried looking before they went on sale I couldn't see anything to suggest this. Mighty cack if so.

I clicked on a pre-sale link I got sent and it showed seating on the floor, and given they did it last tour I'm pretty sure it's the case.

Maynard seems to have a real hate for his fans...

Yes thanks! Brilliant gig and a great setlist, obviously new album heavy but that's OK cos' I love it! Fantastic gig although I have never been a fan of Glasgow Catty as a venue - it was packed too, I'm surprised that they didn't upgrade it.

Boss Keloid were fantastic as always, smile
