Ashes was a great album imo but The Blackening was completely overhyped (never quite understood why everyone had that on a pedestal....).

Unfortunately, like Fear Factory, MH are saddled with the weight of having their first two albums as easily their best. They continue to show snippets of brilliance but necessarily deserve the reverence afforded them (imo).

In comparison, Lamb of God (seen as we're discussing 'commercial' metal)have yet a to produce a less than brilliant album (Resolution ranks of one of my all-time favourites).
We're definitely not seeing eye to eye here! I really tried to like the last 3, I really did but they (especially sacrament) are just terrible.

Ashes and Palaces are the top picks for me. Some great moments on NAG (although what the hell happened to the production?) and the Burn the Priest stuff too.

Now this is downright glorious! RAM

Ok, so it's basically just Judas Priest, but like I said, glorious!

That's ok, it can't all be peace and love (can you imagine if we all liked Asking Alexandra!!). I'll stand by my opinion though.....Resolution was a monumental slab of metal (especially the last two tracks). Sure, the albums sound similar, but no-one else sounds like Lamb of God - they have certainly created their own sound (unlike a lot of death, black, djent bands who all seem to be clones of each other imo).

Probably true, although I can't think of many other Black Metal bands with banjo interludes Necro Banjo!

Still just don't "get" LoG. Hey ho.

Any Prong fans?

Saw them years ago on the Beg to Differ tour. Thought they went a bit off the boil after that but the new album (Carved Into Stone) sounds excellent. Tommy Victor is a riffing God.
Opening track.

Tommy always seems to find excellent drummers.

I think beg to differ was the tour I saw them on...early 90s?

I think it was. I've still got the t-shirt somewhere from the Bradford gig.
I might go see them as I'm only down the road in Leeds.

Corelia, progressive metal. Another 'bedroom band', not released an album or played a gig yet but incredibly talented.

Ok, I'll admit it - the Skyharbor st is epic on sooo many levels. Seriously reminds me of Karnivool's first album in terms of quality of writing and the vocal style.

One of the best things I've heard in years!.........

Nice one mate, they are cracking. Dan T from Tesseract on vocals, he's gone on to great things. Indian guitarist, drummer and bassist which is frankly surprising.

glad you boys like it!! i think if you go back over the pages the first post up of skyharbor was actually hornet's so i'll doff my cap to you sir!

the cd has not yet turned up from basick yet but i can't wait to hear it at full chat on me good stereo rather than stty youtube.it just exudes quality and i think dan's vocals really suit it.i was sad to see him go from tesseract but i do like elliot the new guy.sounds a lot like jeff buckley if you haven't heard him yet.

that skyharbor st is going to be massive.

on a separate note, i hear deftones are working on the new album right now for autumn release.!!

This thread just keeps on giving tbh - first it brings Animals As Leaders to my attention, and now this!
Any other recommendations in a similar vein?
