Another great live video. This time from an Edinburgh (Elder, Cough, Steak and Atragon) gig. Had never heard of these guys, clearly have some catching up to do:

Thought this could do with a bump, hadn't felt compelled to post anything.
Making a concerted effort to fill out my Spotify and listen to albums I've not previously heard in full, listening to a lot of melodic black, folk, Ensiferum (debut 5/5 for me), Melechesh (Emissaries, Enki), Suidakra (Caledonia).
New Mors Principium is alright, I've only heard a few tracks, may not be as good as the last album.
New track from Shade Empire https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKSrp2YxK6I promising, Omega Arcane is a bit good isn't it?
New Wintersun also out soon, though it isn't Time II. I think that's due out around 2076?

Fecking Wintersun! I've lost all interest in them after their crowdfund drama. Why the fk do they need a purpose built studio to finish Time II? Load of bks! Anyone who funds them is a mug! Latest random YouTubery, this time instrumental :-
Essence of Datum - Mixture of Forms
For a complete change of style, found Akrotheism via their split with Septuagint, and enjoy them a lot.
Akrotheism - Antimatter a I
Million and one bands out there doing that sort of thing these days, but that's stuck in my head more than most for some reason.
Agree with what you've said about Akrotheism. Something just right with them deapite being nothing new. I'd been trying to convince my other half that we need to go to Cyprus to see them with Bolzer but failed.Essence of Datum - Mixture of Forms

I have just discovered that there is a Ned Flanders themed metal band
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BEvh6HSQc0
This song is bizarrely hypnotic as I've listened to it several times and still cannot decide if it's awesome or terrible

That's strangely a lot less 5hit than I was expecting!
It's not metal but I'm currently enjoying Middle Class Rut's Pick Up Your Head. For a 2 piece they can really make a feckin' noise There are a lot to pick fro the album but I particularly like the drumming in these 2:

And love the pace of some of their stuff - it's the sort of stuff you find yourself driving a little too briskly too

Saw these guys (sans Ihsahn unfortunately) along with Tesseract and Devin last Friday. Probably my fave prog metal band at the moment. Simply stunning live.

VI - La Terre ne Cessera de la Consumer
DSO comparisons probably unavoidable, but blimey that's fierce.
Yes and yes. I like VI, still not listened to the 'new' DSO yet. VI - La Terre ne Cessera de la Consumer

Are you going to any upcoming gigs? A few decent ones in the next month or so assuming you're in the UK.
