Good call. Fantastic song. The point where his voice cracks towards the end gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.Benjurs said:
First time I've heard that, and I've since enjoyed the original too. Good post - thanks for the recommendation.I simply cannot believe that nobody on here has posted Sarah McLachlan's Piano version of "Possession" (and boy did it take a while looking..)

Gonna throw this in here, as there is something really haunting about this version...if you ever saw someone feel a song as they play it.

Thought I would add a couple more, to aid your depression.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtaMTIQuwA8 Rocket Man (Elton John Cover) Maynard James Keenan & The Flaming Lips Steven Drozd - completely re-imagining the song, now seems a lot darker.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhHZaJAfFsI M83 "Oblivion" Featuring Susanne Sundfør (Live). just some of the bridges are awesome and her voice.
And to finish for today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHdRy-iivcg The Noose - A Perfect Circle

'Elizabeth Lying On The Bathroom Floor'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eS2ipWNm9Fw
telling the story of Mark Everett's (Eeels) sister's suicide - starting here from her point of view as she's laying there dying, then followed as the theme for the album (Electro-Shock Blues)
including 'Going to Your Funeral' Parts 1 and 2
How he wrote these things, so personal yet directly I don't know let alone perform them subsequently. He had a very, very rough time of things with his autistic, astrophysicist father who barely spoke to him through his life, his very troubled sister, his inadequate (and then ill) mother and girlfriends - often rolled together into the same year or so.
Definitely haunting...

(Much more evocative without a video)
The Lion And the Cobra is a superb album that got largely forgotten because of all her silly antics.
