'Wind beneath my wings' Bette Midler.

Going back 20 odd years my father had just passed away from cancer and my Mum thought my sister and I and her needed an evening out - so we went to see (not knowing the story) Beaches. Well that was a happy outing............

Hallelujah as sung by k d lang. Gets me every time.

When I was very young and very, very unhappy (terrifying as yet undiagnosed degenerative condition and unending bullying at school), I finally learnt how to ‘have a cry’ with the aid of Bridge Over Troubled Water. Can't listen to it any more.

And a few of the pieces that were my very best moments as a classical musician, just the thought of which has me nearly weeping like a girl - notably the Brahms Sextet in B flat, the Mendelssohn Octet and most of all Schutz Four Last Words of Jesus Christ on the Cross. It has no religious significance to me at all but it was the best thing I ever did as a Baroque musician and symbolises most what I've lost.

Just heard Don McLean - Vincent played at the end of The Simpsons. I think that's a sad song. And can relate to the suffering of those with Menieres disease.

A couple have already been mentioned - Brothers in arms, due to attending a very moving theatre production, which finished with this. Bridge over troubled water, don't know why, just gets to me.

The one that does get me everytime, is Snows of new york by Chris De Burgh, as it was played at a friends funeral.

The script - The man who cant be moved: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16nOViwmSJ4&ob=...

Reminds me of when I split up with my first love, thankfully moved on but I still think about her occasionally.

Me too - doesn't move me in the slightest tho!

(Sorry - just think it's an abomination of the original, and I'm no Elton fan!)

Not a "sad" tune, by any stretch of the imagination. But - for me - still weepy greatness from Saint-Saens:

Softly Awakes My Heart

This also gets the tear ducts going as well:
