Definitely agree with this. The song on its own is pretty good but the way it was used in Magnolia was pure genius. I normally can't stand Tom Cruise but he absolutely blew me away in that film.

I think 'Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space' by Spiritualized has to be my personal sad song 'favourite' (if that isn't a bit weird). I was listening to the album a lot around the time my first serious girlfriend dumped me when I was 18. bh!

Not very original, sorry, but "Abide With Me" always gets me going - played at a funeral service when my best friend died.

Also, and I have no idea why, "Motorcycle Emptiness" by the Manic Street Preachers is a song I find sad.

Written by the guitarist of the band after his mother died I have no idea how he ever manages to perform it, this song nearly killed me after my dad died, yet ultimately went on to help me deal with things.

Yeah its hard to believe how good Cruise was in Magnolia! One of the best films I've ever seen, never got the recognition it deserved for some reason.
