What's happening, what's the plan for the stand? PH Pub again?

This event seems to be very poorly supported on PH. Is this a reflection of the quality of the event? (I've never been, and am looking for some feedback from those who have been before)

There's a whole area of the website dedicated to the show (comprising around 30 threads) and there has been a total of three posts in a whole year with 30 days until the show starts...

p.s. is the Autosport Show and the Performance Car show, one and the same?

Yes it's the same thing pretty much (they are in halls next to each other)

The event is overpriced for the entertainment it offers and parking at the NEC is £12. Draw your own conclusions.

Sorry but there are a bunch of us that love this Show, You get to see Motorsport Drivers, Women in Lycra, lots of TOP cars. There is a Coys Auction area, trade stands showing the latest motorsport products.

We treat it as a social each year, its a place to meet up in the warm and chat about what you plan to do in the coming season. 1st Tickets are normally there, there are competitions to enter to win stuff.

If you like Live action, there is another hall you can go through to to watch some demos and stunts from some great drivers. There is also a large indoor Go Kart track people can play on (additional cost).

Yes Car parking is expensive at the NEC but if a few of you go in one car and split the cost its not such a hard pill to swallow.

So stop moaning and enjoy it tongue out

Yes

Not everyone has a car full of mates to share the costs.

So as I have done for over a decade, I have not paid money to a company that COULD help with the costs. The caravan show last year was free to park in any vehicle? Same venue. I wrnt there as a colleague was looking to buy a motorhome, free parking week long show. Stick that in yer pipe Hayshed!

Plus I want to opt out of the live arena, I need less Croft garbage in my life not more and Terry Grant can go suck my kiss! Yet I cannot opt out when you could years ago. Nice one Hayshed.

If I went it would be for me the most expensive meeting I went to all year. It is unjustifiable for what you get.

I think I went to every Racing Car Show first as a teenager at the Horticultural Halls, then most if not all of those held at Olympia. Then the Autosport Shows which began in 1990 - if I recall correctly.

I haven't been to the latest incarnations for some years. Pointless, see more variety at a PH SS. Plus the rip off cost. Non-starter for me. And for more than few others it seems.

We have gone as exhibitors a number of times and one year supplied a car and driver for the live show. The live action arena is fun but I find the show itself pretty dry in terms of entertainment. Worth going if you haven't been before but there's not a lot that would have me going on an annual basis unless you're part of the industry.

We will be there this year but attending as punters and on a professional basis, not for the sake of it.

Too much of the same old, same old with ever increasing prices to be honest. If I'm nearby I might call in but only because I want to try some seats (expensive fitting session!) - other than that, well, you only have to look at this forum to see how much interest and engagement has waned.

I've never been, but have got a ticket this year. I know the black ACR Viper was there last year, so hope to meet fellow owners

I go most years, but generally on a trade day. Remember it is a trade show first and foremost, with some performance cars tacked on at the side. If you have no interest in Motorsport, you'll find it really disappointing.

If you've never been, it's worth going.

With a few days until it opens PH aren't exactly shouting about it. Not very encouraging. And £12 for parking is a joke.

For road or track, I always find a good number of interesting new tech developments, a few rarely-seen new and historic race cars and often new road models too.

Plenty on list for this year, rides in Caterham were fun last year, this years newbies include the new McLaren 570S on Sportscarhire stand to win a day's free hire.

I don't bother with the talks though... wink

Have to say this Website is not the place it once was frown
Just go to the front page, click on the Calender and then to Pistonheads events and there is nothing for January!
http://www.pistonheads.com/calendar/phevents.asp

Pistonheads used to have some great stands and a big line up of members cars in the past but sadly since the Haymarket take over, things have not changed for the Better frown

I don't like to knock things but its really not great. Even the classifieds are crap now compared to how they used to be. I tried searching yesterday for Motor sports car seats and all it came up with was Hazzard switches! WTF! The search engine is crap. Price of merchandise is through the roof and there is very little website feedback. I know staff have been cut and its clearly showing. frown
Its a shame that large corporations take over these websites then do little to move them forward.

I've been quite a few times now on trade day and quite like it, I love all the tech stuff.
I only just manage to get see it all in one day, some superb machinery to be seen.
I just wish to god they would turn down the music in the live action arena, I want to be able to hear the cars I'm seeing, not Jay Z etc at a million decibels.
Yes the parking and entry fee is a rip off, but I've always managed to take a car full to spread the cost.

I too like the trade days and love the new tech stuff, personally I think I have only ever been to the Live Action arena once and to be honest it did nothing for me whatsoever. I have not bothered with it for the last few years. I much prefer to look around the stands and talk to exhibitors.

Really? 2015 saw us hosting more events (Sunday Services, F1 wake ups, Track days, Le Mans etc) than ever before. In fact, look here to see for yourself: http://www.pistonheads.com/news/general-pistonhead...

And as for Autosport, last year we went to great lengths and considerably more cost than ever before to have a top notch stand, which doubled up as a pub.... the previous years where there were just a load of cars stuffed in the corner of a hall were not popular with either visitors or owners and was (to my knowledge) a logistical nightmare.

Anyway, we're doing a lot at the show this year, which I will post about in a separate thread.
