Not even remotely on topic, but how are you finding Oz? What are you doing for a living there and where abouts in the UK did you move from? Continuing my trade as a plumber, although roofing is under the same umbrella here, so learning new aspects.
Loving it here. We're on the East coast between Brisbane and Sydney. Weather's heaps better, never liked our dreary winters. Still have colder nights, so there is still a noticeable change in season, but pleasant still, average winters day around 15/ 18 degrees. Summers around 20 - 35. More out door opportunities, just nicer living for me.
Bought my Caterham over, so still have a bit of the UK with me.
No regrets.

No worries.
Think of taking the plunge? Just selling out place in the Uk after being here for two years. The idea being that we could always move back.
Think we'll leave the UK at some point but the wife still has 12 years to go in the RAF before the pension kicks in.Think of taking the plunge? Just selling out place in the Uk after being here for two years. The idea being that we could always move back.
I'm an HGV mechanic so would get a job in Oz or NZ with relative ease, i'd like to think.
Think I'll miss the car shows at country estates and steam fairs etc though.
Yes, it's been a while. I think you made the right move though.
The integrale is still in my garage, needs a, er bit of work. I got fed up of worrying about parking it and seeing more n more dents appearing, plus lack of trustworthy specialists. When I got a Suzuki Samurai as my weekday car, I got into off-roading, so it got less and less use.
The Sami became another toy and was tuned and capable of 90+ mph and went almost anywhere off-road too. It was replaced with a Vitara as it was better on road but still useful off-road. I now have a mk1 RAV 4, still OK for green lanes, but better again on road. Some people stick a GT4 engine in them, but I'm resisting well.
I think I've posted this before, although it now has BFG ATs.

New to me RHD swb G500. 5.0 v8 with centre, front and rear locking diffs as standard. Everything I need in a car, just wants a tow bar, all terrains and a bit of love.
Thats very nice, not many swb G500's around at all, Jap import ? I know there was one floating around for sale on GWOA.Does it have a 4 or 5 speed auto gearbox ?

It is that car yes, a fairly unusual model in right hand drive aswell.
I had a japanese import 300gel before, so when this came up went for it. Being a 1999 it has the 5 speed box and is nice and rust free from a dry environment.
Fuel economy wise its no worse than the long 300 was getting but that was a 1993 though.
Cheers

Did you go Atlas or LT230 on the transfer box? What controller are you using for the 6L80 and who did you get to tune the first map?
I had an LS1 mated to a 4L80e and a Marks adaptor conversion for an LT230- it worked well but I would have MUCH preferred a 6l80
Is the drivetrain stock?

Transfer is a 43D 1.4 LT230 with the Ashcroft centre diff onepiece Crosspin, steel shimmed Intermediate shaft, and then an Ashcroft Underdrive.
Rear half shafts are MaxiDrive/HiTough.
Front ones are Rovertracks with their CV's (similar to Ashcrofts ones)
Crownwheel and pinions are Ashcroft HD 3.5:1, and it has 24 Spline ARB lockers
The LT230 Adaptor is from Rover-works (Nick) in the States
The loom for the engine and box has been set up by Speartech who also reprogrammed the internal TCM in the auto which I sent them. They also removed the security from the e38 engine ecu and removed the DOD stuff from the ECU. They also set me up a standard map to suit.
I put as much info as I could in the build thread. I hope it works!
cheers
Pete
