I've seen that in the states the Overlander has a higher output v8, does the same apply in the UK?
Yes there is a standard V8 & the HO (High Output) I think most if not all the UK ones are HO. 235BHP vs 265BHP. V8 will be Quadra Drive with LSDs front & rear against the 4L with Quadra Trac II.

Ours is 4.7 but not HO.
Not sure you need it!
Ours is a limited with quadra drive.
I also heard you should watch for rear axle oil leak into the rear brake drums - also an expensive fix apparently but ours seems ok.

not that expensive to fix if you shop around. Just had mine done twice! According to my Chrysler specialist it is nearly always the offside one. The seal that leaks is trivial unfortunately the bearing & spacer get trashed to get it off. I bought a bearing, spacer & seal from ebay but the seal was leaking again in a couple of months. SO bought the set off of ebay & then used a genuine Chrysler seal. The E bay set is £40 the seal from Chrysler is £30 or so. From Chrysler the bearing is over £100 & the spacer is £40!

So 235BHP or 265BHP? Both enough to pull a horse trailer if needed I guess, I wonder is there any way to find out which engine it has..

Anything else anyone can think to look out for? All help much appreciated. Had a look at that jeep forum but it's fairly quiet, might take a nosy on the V8 forums..

This is probably the best UK Jeep forum (IMO): http://www.birtydastards.com/frm/

This is a good US one, although there are a few Brits on it: http://www.jeepforum.com/

And if you want something a little more extreme head over to here: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/

OK, very kind fella from another forum called around for me.

Needs;

- Two front tyres & geometry set (outer wear on both)
- Rear seat belt holder not working
- Driver's side not giving out hot air ("trickling out")
- Shocks not supporting the bonnet

Cosmetically, there's a scratch on every panel apparently, which is at the bottom of my list of concerns frankly!

Gearbox oil sweet, all fluids at correct levels with no discolouration, etc. Drives fine on gas, started from cold perfectly and switched over to gas after a mile.

I'll get onto eBay this evening but anyone know how much the bonnet shocks are to sort? I see the blend door issue is £150-200 (is that just parts?)

Front tyres should be easy, the overall tyre depths should be similar all round. I put mine on General A/T alround when I changed the tyres, for around £400 If the geo is out could be worn balljoints & or steering joints, when was it last MOT'd. Yup blend doors is around £200 done by my guy.
Shocks aren't bad I think they are around £20-25 a side. My service guy doesn't trust 'em & uses a broom stick! Mine have started to die.
The panels might polish, the paint depth is deep, I've T Cut some quite deep ones out on mine.
Sounds a good buy, bought it yet.

It's MOT'd until next July but I've learnt from experience that means little other than it's more attractive to buyers.

Found the shocks on eBay for £33 each and the HeaterTreater basic repair kit (not sure if I need the dual one yet).

So £66 for shocks, £75-110 for heater repair kit, £20-30 for seatbelt receiver.. just need to find out the tyre size now.

I'll call him in the morning and bid him down, hopefully get a deposit on not long after smile

be carful on the tyre front make sure the tyres on the back have good tread as you are supposed to change them as a whole set as it can mess with the drivetrain and lsd's if not im sure ive read that you get 6 or 8% tollerance

bonnet dampers are not even a 5 min job mine were gone when i bought mine

Yea I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, the tolerance is even lower than that I believe.
