Seems very suitable, but rather rare here, so struggling for practical information.

Anyone got one? Opinions welcome.
Had a mid 80s 70 series , about as reliable as a hammer !!
If its been looked after and not rusty you won't better ,not that refined but will go to hell and back perfect adventure vehicle ..

The problem will be actually finding one. I just came back from a trip to Darwin. In Northern Territory most people drive 4WD trucks and 9/10 of these seem to be 78 land cruisers. That says it all for me. Extremely capable trucks, but can you find one?

I've only ever been in a Troopie Ambulance ( eek ) but if you think you can live with a Defender than a LC will be suitable.

I think personal imports are the way to go rather than trying to find one already in the UK. Maybe Nene (as mentioned above) would be able to help get used ones too.

Otherwise it's just a case of finding friendly parts suppliers in the UK/Aus or ZA who are willing to DHL things around the world if/when you conk out in Siberia.

Old saying :-

Head south to Africa go in a Toyota - anywhere that's old go in a Land Rover.

If you can't find one to buy - imagine spare supply wait.

I also like the HJZ and would love a 5 door one on grey steel wheels

Never heard that one
But ,want to go on a overland adventure ?go in a land rover ,want to get back go in a Toyota!!
