2015 ranger vs amarok?

Hope you're enjoying the new wheels Brummie. Be keen to hear feedback?
Sorry to hijack, but thought as I was on here earlier, I'd lob in a short update on life with a Ranger Limited, as we're now 80k miles/3 years in & it goes back in 2 weeks. Average mileage around 26.5mpg's: trade in @ £11k (ish). Problems? A handful of electrical hiccups in the first few months - heated seat not turning off & wipers going full blast, unprompted. These all disappeared of their own accord after 2-3 instances & were solved at the time by pulling over, turning off the ignition & restarting. From memory, it's needed one replacement headlamp bulb, 6 tyres & three sets of wiper blades. Can't remember about brake disks but I have a sneaky feeling it's still on the original set. One recall to do something with a safety catch on the rear seat. Reckon that was about it. Just had it's 80k service plus MOT & had an advisory on inner shoulder wear on both fronts. Otherwise 0 issues. Local Ford dealership have also been really good: loaner car always available & always brand spanking new, sparkling clean; no delays or problems with parts; always texts to confirm appointments & when the job's done, complimentary valet each time; pleasant, friendly professional staff.
Really impressed with it overall - as I mentioned earlier I was expecting a bouncing, squeaky, rattling, bag of spanners, & was very pleasantly surprised. We've had several family trips to the West Country & North East (we're in Northants) and a summer holiday last year down to La Rochelle/Isle de Re stacked to the rafters with wife, MiL, 2 x dogs & what seemed like most of our kitchen appliances & the thing just breezed along the autoroutes. Yes it's a shipping hazard around town, especially multi storeys, but neither of us have managed to scrape or kerb it & we're amongst the worlds worst parkers. Thank you, whoever invented the reversing camera....Special mention to whoever decided to put the screen in the rear-view mirror. Yes, it has a markedly smoother ride when the load bed has something weighty in it, but it's a really decent family slogger that I don't feel the need to get too precious about & wouldn't feel at all hard done by if the company couldn't justify trading in & I had to hang on to for another year. My wife has a VW UP! (which could probably fit in the pick up bed), but also loves driving the Ranger (name of Billy Ray Junior, obvs. The Ranger, that is, not the wife) as she's no speed freak & doesn't get intimidated by other drivers when she's in it, so I reckon if I could justify adding a 911, or something similar, I'd be pretty happy with that as a 3 car garage.
As it transpired, when it came to trade-in we decided not to bother with trying anything else, as apparently there's a shortage of Limited's at the moment, so the 3.2l Wildtrack is currently cheaper! The order went in today (hardtop for me, shutter top for my colleague) & no complaints from this side of the desk.

When I ordered my limited back in September I was told if I wasn't fussed about what I got I could get a wildtrak in a matter of a few weeks whereas it's about 3 months for the limited. Dealer also said the wildtrak was the one they were shifting.
I mentioned previously I think. I don't like the seats in the wildtrak so specced up an auto 3.2 limited.
Definitely made the right choice as there are loads of orange wildtraks round here, even a guy 6 doors away has one.
Auto isn't massively refined but does learn so is either thirsty or stupid thirsty.

Agreed - exterior graphics are a little bit more, er, graphic, on current Limited/Wildtrack models & that coupled with the Wildtrack interior trim AND orange paint would be a bit much for me Not sure if I'd have been able to say no, but fortunately ours will be black paintwork.Definitely made the right choice as there are loads of orange wildtraks round here, even a guy 6 doors away has one.

Black ones look nice on the road, I like the bigger wheels but I like the full black leather. 3.2 makes a nice noise, pushed it's a bit noisy but just running around it's a nice noise for a diesel.
Well emailed lease company to see whats what about ending lease early, I am about 15k miles short of my allowance and will be 5 months early. TBH I prefer driving my v8 Grand Cherokee, don't like the lag when on/off the throttle with the 3.2 matched to the auto and the traction is just pants. For the amount of use the pickup bed gets I will stick with a trailer on my Grand. Also have a nagging feeling something is going to break, it just feels a bit cheap (I know its truck etc) the HVAC system is crap, and its developed a NVH issue that didn't used to be there, if you only just started driving it now you wouldn't notice it, but it just irritates me, oh and local ford dealer is st.
Now if a ranger had permy 4wd and a v8...

I asked about ending the lease early on my L200 once i knew the ranger was in and ready. They told me it would be pricey and for the short time i had it left it was better to keep it full term. Now if a ranger had permy 4wd and a v8...
Is yours the current shape? Maybe its because i came from the L200 but im impressed with the build quality and finish. Kick down is slow i find and you need to plan an overtake but the lag is a million miles away from the L200, if you got it off boost leaving a roundabout it would be an age to spool up.
