Wow these little trucks are not cheap! £1500 for a high mileage mashed up, full of rust holes Hilux on eBay! I'm after a Mk 3 to use as a donor car for a trials/challenge truck. It can be crashed or MOT fail as I only need the guts.

I've seen a couple appear on the Salvage Market website earlier this year for under a grand, but was't ready to buy just then and now there's nothing there.

Where do all these breakers yards get their cheap cars from?

Apart from the breaking for spares brigade on ebay of which most seem to be the Surf variant (is that any good?) is this one, which is bit outside your price http://sellsgood.co.uk/vehicules/cars/toyota/toyot... another advert on the same site has an MOT failure for a bit more money and the ad says 'ideal for export', so perhaps that's part of your problem?

The adverts I saw were also "Ideal for export". The UK is known for older cars being cheap so probably they are being shipped to parts of the world where labour is cheap and they can be kept running.

I'm monitoring all the usual places, just thought someone might have more ideas. I wonder if Gumtree is still any good.

The Hilux surf has independent suspension so won't do :/
