Hi everyone

Later this year my fiancé and I are off on a 6 month adventure to new Zealand and USA.
We are from UK and my brother lives in Idaho. While we are staying with him i'd like to go off for about two weeks exploring the forest tracks etc on a motorbike (I have a license) and her on a quadbike.
I think the cheapest way is for me (my brother) to buy them and then sell them when we're done.

I was wondering how to go about this, whether the bikes need to be registered, what roads can we drive on etc.
Also will I be able to sell the motorbike later in Los Angeles without my brother being present?

Thanks for any replies
the hassle doesn't bother me, as long as its cheaper.

If it's just for two weeks I'd rent. Did a 3500mile US bike trip a couple of years ago, and found that to make purchasing a bike more cost effective than hiring you needed to be going for at least a month.

Well that's the rub innit? Will you lose more in the sale and temporary ownership than you would in renting?
I find the answer to be yes, you may find different. All depends how much you're willing to lose and write off as the cost of your trip.

Thanks very much. I think we've decided to rent now, for a week a quad bike is about $600. The rental company are in Nampa and are right on the trails.
As for never coming back, that's exactly what happened to my brother, who's now lived in Boise 15 years haha.
