Been looking at Land Cruisers and noticed that the 4.7 petrol is cheaper secondhand than the 4.2 diesel.

Does it have catastrophic fuel consumption or is there another reason?

fuel consumption really

and perhaps not as reliable- the headers can crack and really quite expensive to replace.

having said that I'm toying up a diesel 80 and a v8 100- both about the same price, slightly different animals, but the v8 100 series can be very useful off road.
