Early Series' values - still on the up?

I have been looking for an early lwb series for the past couple of months and nothing has really caught my eye apart from the one linked above.

However I can't quite get my head around the price. I can well imagine someone paying the money if it looks as good in person but even my man maths is struggling to balance this one. Thoughts?

You're looking at a massive collector premium with that. It's a bloody rare beast to start with, and it's been very nicely and expensively restored. Even then, is it good value? Probably not. But what would it cost to get one done?

If all you want is a good 109", there's plenty for a fraction of that money.

Thanks for the links - time for a rethink perhaps. I prefer the look of the early series 2s with the lights behind the grill so might have to settle for a short one instead or get really inventive with my justifications.

They're just Meccano, so no reason not to swap an earlier front panel and lights onto a later 2a or even a 3. There are certainly plenty of advantages to a 3 over a 2a, especially if you want to actually use it.

Honestly I think that would be more money than sense.

Not saying it isn't nice, but you'd have to be off your rocker to pay that much for such a vehicle. But I struggle to believe it will really sell for this.

You can't tell where the headlights are when you are driving it. And even as a visual aspect it's only face on you'll see this difference. All other sides and angles of the vehicle look almost identical.
