Anyone catch that episode recently ?

The best part was the way it was bought from the dealers yard and had to be sorted. I didn't really know anything about them but it sure climbed up that hill pretty good at the end.
Have the US military stopped using them now, what did they replace it with ?

Be a nice toy if you had a lot of land to drive it about on ! biggrin

They are pretty hopeless off road, the number that had to be rescued out in the Gulf War was eye-opening. Far too heavy and not exactly large load carriers.

I enjoyed that episode although I am not sure the black look was very flattering for the car.

Are those HumVees powerful? I heard 6+something litre engine but couldn't see or hear a turbo so I wondered whether they operated like a 60s muscle car - all cc and little bhp. That said, it climbed well enough and seemed built like a tank.

I think Edd C is a genius and I have to say Mike Brewer seems like a genuinely decent chap. He used to catch a load of flak for being a wide-boy car dealer but I met him at Le Mans in 2000 and that changed my opinion of him. He spent a good portion of the day checking out the spectators' cars and the people in attendance.

Main problem with the H1 and H2 are the size weight. H2 was lighter but still weighed close to 3 tonnes kerb weight. H1 also suffered cooling issues with some engine variants.

iirc the h2 is based on a chevy tahoe chassis?

i quite like the original one, although odd looking, the designers thought some stuff through, like the track matching tank widths etc.

i have an acquaintance who lives in the states who has one of the ex military ones, he's had that control box part go twice, someone finally makes a replacement version out there which is reliable.

odd choice of car for him really, considering he won't have a microwave as it 'damages' the food, is a vegi-squarian, and believes in crystals and shackras etc

Was the H2 version made just for the general public to buy, not a military version ?

I believe so.

Not so.

Wikipedia said:
The H2's final frame assembly is made up of 3 sections: The front uses a modified GM 2500-Series utility frame, the midsection is all new, and the rear section uses a modified GM 1500-Series frame
Appears unique to the H2. H2 is slimmer (well, relatively) and longer than H1.

Horrible things!
